Forums - Microsoft - MS: Xbox One VR won't be at E3; won't be out this year

Just more time for Sony to become dominate in the market. And it will also allow them more time to get costs down to $299 before Xbox even launches theirs. Though, if you look at how MS plays things, this is their MO. See a market they want to get into, but always get into it too late. Spend a bunch of money on advertising, but never become the dominate force in said market. But, hey, if they get into it in 2018, they'll only be 2 years late, which is actually good for them.

I wonder what kind of games MS will even make for VR. MechAssault? I don't know.

I was really looking forwad to VR on Scorpio. Forza, Halo, and Gears are all perfect for this medium. Hopefully it will not be long before they finally make the jump into VR. They are very important in helping move stuff like Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty forward.

I want it wireless, that is the most annoying thing with VR. That cable can be such a problem especially when you have to stand and turn around and stuff like that.

Does anyone know how much power something like PSVR consumes to have an idea if they could manage to make it wireless? I mean, most of the work is done by the console and the screen doesn't have to be that bright, it's super dark in the headset after all. But I have really no idea how much power it still needs and how low MS could get the power consumption in 2018.

I also don't see it as problem that PSVR will have an advantage of some million units. That's still so low that developers won't be like "sales are so awesome, we don't need more devices for our game"

If it will be done right and better as what we have it can still succeed. If it will be just a second PSVR without any improvements then they should release it earlier.

it still in a very early stage if you expecting a good wireless VR headset at a reasonable price

Sorry but those 360 reverse moves from MS is out of control. First they dont care about VR and now after the VR headset on Samsung and Sony sells good they say make VR. And they have the techology to make wireless VR yeah sure i bet it will be play games like minecraft and mobile on wirelles mode because i dont see how you can transfer wirelles, games like RE7, farpoint etc... i dont care about VR games either, just say better MS focus on what they want to do for the good of gamers and the competition

Xbox One shouldn't have VR or any peripheral because they barely have the first party support for the console. Its nice to follow sony sometimes, but sometimes you have to know when its not your fight.

Wireless?

Thats gonna be heavy to wear.. or have a short batterylife....

Microsoft is giveing Sony too long as the sole VR headset for consoles.

Another year, and by the time Xbox has VR it ll be more than 2million+ units behinde.

I used to feel that way but lets be honest. PS VR and VR gaming in general isn't that relevant, what we have now feels like they're still testing the water. More importantly, VR is still expensive and kinda clunky. Many just aren't interested in the current iteration of VR gaming.

If MS has something relatively cheap, wireless, and perhaps works better, that could potentially sell better than PS VR.

I don't see many VR titles coming from Sony and frankly its possible to just crowbar VR content into popular titles. Which has been a big part of Sony's strategy.

I'll just say this, if MS is doing VR I hope its something that makes PS VR look dated while being reasonably priced. That's what it needs to be for the masses to really adopt it.

PSVR sells great...they sell more than they can produce atm. Problem is most people haven't even tried it yet and have some strange reservations as if they fear it would take away their normal gaming...not without reasons though. There is no going back to gaming on a flat screen once one has experienced a game like Dirt Rally In VR.

i know many friends who were haters or sceptics until they finally tried it. PSVR is great, not perfect but a great offer already and Sony will benefit from their early steps for sure. They show real dedication and that's what counts.

PS VR is selling the small number produced, but the userbase isn't exactly viable. That's VR in general so we aren't see much notable content on VR.

Eh, I think high price and lack of content is a bigger problem than hurting standard TV gaming.

I don't feel Sony is dedicated to VR, its more like they put their toe in just incase it gets popular.

Anywho, we're still in the early stages of VR. I think the masses are more curious about where its going versus where we are.
