Well yeah, we have to be fair, it was. Both Sony and Microsoft keep shouting POWER not really understanding that the players got to a point where they want something different... And honestly I don't see anything different with the Scorpio, just more POWER... I have a PS4 and an XB1 why would I buy a Pro or a Scorpio, so my games get prettier?

Take it Prey for example, a new brutal game... sold 30k units at launch... thats bloody shameful if you ask me. And why is that?

I have prey on my PC... it's just a boring game, that's why, i agree with you power is not enougth, sony needs to get over it because it is not what makes a game fun.

Now I suddenly stopped to take you serious anymore, sorry. Prey is brilliant.

I'd say it's a big reason the PS4 got off to a much better start and that snowballed from there because with online being so important these days you don't want to buy the system your friends don't have because you can't then play with them online.

PS4 being $100 cheaper and more powerful definiely helped them get out of the gates fast, at least MS now is shoring up the power end of the deal.

I don't think the general XBox/PS4 "dudebros" type gives two shits about weird nichey indie game exclusives or random Japanese games.

That

The only reason it is at the top now is because it started 100$ cheaper for better performance... Not games as it was the same and general consumer does not care that much. And then the domino effect could not be stopped with the big headstart

Listen, you guys can keep cherry picking why you think the PS4 is ahead, but the facts will remain.  It was the better HW with the better, more varied library.  If it was only price and power, the 360 should have smoked the PS3 last gen, since the price gap was $200, $100 more than it was this gen, and it had better multiplats for the first year or two.  Yet, somehow the PS3 still caught up and passed the 360.  Why?  It was the better HW, in terms of failure rate and features included, and it had the larger, more varied library.  It also helps that PS is just a bigger brand.  There's a reason the XBO is down YOY, even though you can get one for $249 or less.

And an upgraded model, most likely priced ~$449, of a console that is performing poorly is not going to change those facts.  Especially since the Pro, which is already doing well, is going to do even better once it hits $299-$349 this holiday season, and stock is readily available.

Saying they have the best console to play games is the only logical move here.

So the company that made the most powerful console will advertise it as such? Genius.

No one saw that coming.

So it seems that power doesn't matter anymore lul

12 pages for a 15 second teaser. Wonder how many pages for the full trailer.

Shots Fired At Sony?

PS4pro (neo) gonna be like:

Nice, lol.  That's the Pro once it hits $299, when it will probably start selling 1 in 4 PS4s sold.

If you're trying to point out hypocrisy Im sure you haven't forgotten almost every XBox fanboy who for years pledged resolution/power doesn't matter, but now, all of a sudden, can't wait to pay it back to the mean Sony fans who have punished them for so long...

I recall many a discussion of "who cares about power/resolution" and "900, 1080 who can see the difference" etc etc. Funny how no one seems to remember all those discussions and suddenly it is power, power, power.

Exactly.  Mocking others who said they could tell the difference between 720p/900p and 1080p.  The fact is they are the hypocrites, as I have yet to see any PS gamer say that power doesn't matter, like they all claim.  Nope, I see them saying power is great, but it isn't the only thing that matters.  But, it seems many Xbox fans are quick to flip flop on the power thing.  First, it mattered when the PS3 had worse multiplats.  Then, it didn't matter when PS4 had better ones.  Now, it matters again once the Scorpio comes out.  I take it it won't matter in 2019/2020 when the PS5 comes out and and is 2x-3x the GPU power of the Scorpio, but with a much better CPU and RAM.

To me, the Scorpio is shaping up to be the OG Xbox.  A nice piece of HW, but with half the support of the PS2, it failed to sell very well.  And just like the OG Xbox, I expect MS to abandon it really quickly if they are going to take another stab at console HW, since they are going to have to answer Sony's PS5 in less than a year of its launch if they don't want them to run away with the market, again.

The original Xbox actually had exclusives though. And it was a solid console.

There are hypocrites on both sides of the fence. Don't assume either side is innocent.

When the Xbox One and Playstation 4 were first revealed, everyone couldn't stop talking about the power gap and the GDDR5 memory while being $100 cheaper.

Fact is, there is a difference between 720P and 900P and 1080P. Always has. Whether you actually give a flying shit really depends on you as a person.
For me, 720P is a last century resolution and should be obliterated from all devices in 2017. Switch included.

That doesn't mean I don't think the Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro aren't underpowered either. They are. Just less than the Xbox One.
