To be fair the Holocaust also had a major religious element to it, most genocides do.

I'm not sure about that 6m figure you gave, but I agree on the fact that this "war on terror" was a complete disaster
- trillions of tax payer dollars gone
- thousends of dead soldiers, hundreds of thousends to millions of dead civilians
- more terrorists than before
- middle east destabilized for many generations to come
and the worst thing is that it was so freaking obvious it would "end" that way

The Nazi's killed for God and wanted to spread Christianity. Sure, there were major nationalist and racial elements to Nazism but those are also present (to a lesser degree) in the Islamist movement. I'm not really disagreeing, just pointing out that the differences between the two aren't as extreme as some like to believe.
Could it? Yes, and the scary thing is it could happen anywhere in any country. We've seen genocides in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Differing cultures for differing rationales all perpetrate such horrific actions. All it takes is for those in power to desire and the people to not oppose it.

One aspect was to kill the jews who were believed to be the God killer and another one was to expand the German life borders the last one was more important than the first one

Yes although it isn't a likely scenario. As other said on a small scale there is a genocide of nonmuslims in the Middle East. Especially Koptic Christians in Egypt and ofcourse the Yazidi's. Also the curds aren't very popular. But these are more like the Sebrenica disaster than a Holocaust.

We did abandon slavery for a huge part which has been present since the dawn of humanity. But I agree there are to many hell holes on this planet for not another major genocide. My guess is either in South East Asia (Filipinos, Indonesia) or the Middle East or Africa of course.

Doubt a 3rd world war would happend.
But if sh*t got crazy enough, I could see Islam as a religion being banned (everywhere) , and every muslim country in the world iradicated.
It would take a new "hitler" like character to raise up, and gather the west & eastern world, to agree on it.
as to what scenario... maybe some terrorist that got hold a nuke and set it off in a highly populated US city.
