Sony makes ~$100/PS4 a year in digital revenue (~$20 profit). Once Switch has sold tens of millions, their digital cards will also be topping the charts. Nintendo will be making a lot more profit than $20/console too.

Top psn downloads in April.  Looks like they're being spent over a varied list of games!

I was talking about DLC. That list just goes to show that no game comes close to the $700m/yr GTA DLC brings in.

If price rumours are true, Nintendo isn't planning to be as greedy as Sony (yet). Not only is Nintendo's online going to be cheaper and available anywhere but they actually make massively popular online games that justify the cost whereas Sony needs 3rd parties to sell their online for them. Sony/MS should be handing over half of PSN/XBL straight to Activision/EA/Rockstar in gratitude. If Nintendo are as generous to EA/Acti/Rock* as they are to their consumers then 3rd parties can keep a higher % of profits on Switch than they would on PS4/5.

Maybe there's something magical that will stop portable CoD/GTA/FIFA becoming as popular as their stationary versions but it wasn't the case for Tetris, Minecraft, Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Smash and many more.
