Xbox will suffer in this comparison more since it launched basically at the same time with ps4. I'm sure Wii U has more 1st places honestly

Wii U never went #1.

not even launch week? I say this because it didn't have much competition

Well it is by far the most common way to announce dates globally except in North America.

Right, but I care less about the specific day and more about the month. When people ask me when the PS4 launched, I'm more likely to say "November", not "the 15th".

It's a bit of a hussle in UK some say November the 15th and others the 15th of November. Anyway I think it's logical to order the most meaningful number till the least specific number or the other way around. Besides in Dutch we only have 15 november 2013. But I grew up with that system the same way I think metric is more logical than the imperial system and miles. In the end everyone uses the system he or she grew up with. Sadly for you a big part of the world uses DD/MM/YYYY and I doubt that's going to change in our projected life times.

Nope, 3DS/PS3/X360 all outsold it.

OP might have forgotten the 52 weeks the Wii U was the best selling 8th gen homeconsole. Just kidding great job op. I wonder if the Switch is going to win more weeks than PS4 at the end of its life cycle. If Sony and MS screw up it gen it has a shot of doing so.

Thought it would be interesting to see how many weeks each console had spent at the top of the charts and see how much of a job the Switch has got to catch up.

1st 2nd 3rd Top 3
PS4 168 11 0 179
Switch 4 4 0 8
Xbox One 1 75 76 152

Well it's already beat the Xbox One which has never topped the chart since it's launch week. Catching the PS4 however is going to be quite the task, especially since they've taken 4 weeks each since the Switch launch so it hasn't even started reducing that deficit yet! Also interesting is that PS4 has only spent 1 week, due to severe stock issues, outside of the top 2. Will be interesting to see if the Switch can match or better that. And of course got to wonder if the Xbox ever manage to top the weekly charts again?

Interesting.

Will you update this thread every week ?

no it's because the PS4/XBO launched at the same time. If the XBO launched a month or two later, it would have probably the same amount of wins as Switch.

And if it launched never, it wouldn't even be part of this circus.

nice observation.

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"

Hmm, I thought Xbox One did better. Obviously it's not doing badly, but I thought it had actually beat PS4 a few times. I guess not. It's also interesting how well Switch has been doing. It's not really a surprise anymore (or even in the first place), but it's still interesting.

Think it would work better if you ranked them each week rather than showing which weeks they won

Good work though, tagging!

Considering the different release dates of the consoles you should probably add something like weeks on the market.

It's a pretty flawed concept of a comparison but with those numbers as well it would soften it a bit.

Switch came in and was like "c c c c combo breaker"!
