Tons and Tons of new IP accouncements, and opening of game studios.
Hopefully.
But yeah its like they dont "try" to win anymore, they know its a lost cause.

Tons of IP announcements? Are you talking about Nintendo and Sony or Microsoft? LOL

I don't think Microsoft has ever opened up a ton of studios and made a plethora of new IP announcements in the entire 15+ year Xbox history.
The only *real* success they have had has been Fable, Halo, Forza and Gears... And all those franchises bar-Forza started life outside of Microsoft's hands.
I suggest not to expect big things from Microsoft at E3 this year, bar some impressive hardware announcements.
Whatever happened to that $1 billion Xbox One game investment they were doing?

Sony are in a great position. In fact its a reversal of what happened last gen. Sony were pushing games all over the place, but they could never compete with MS on price. So everytime Sony reduced the price, MS did the same. Now MS has the problem, but they also have the issue that they have seemingly given up on development again and Sony are pushing games out at an amazing rate.
Scorpio comes out with a lack of 1st party, Sony drops the price of the Pro, maybe even the slim, brings out the big hitters (Spiderman is apparently this year - which would be crazy, that would then mean GOW march next year). No good having new hardware if all that people are going to be talking about is the massive amount of games, and even more importantly the exclusives that you cannot get on said new hardware. yet again they've missed the point (well I guess we'll see in a couple of weeks if MS have learnt their lesson, i suspect not).
They have lost everywhere in the world, only hope is to get some market share from Sony in US and UK, a hard thing to do considering Sony will go all out this holiday to stop da Scorpio, they're marketing the right games, will have the right bundles, will do price cuts to stop it. They will never win anywhere else.
I fear this E3 will be all about 4K for MS, and very few, if no new game announcements to go with it. "here's all your Xbone games, but now in 4K! The new Assassins Creed in 4K, it's yuuuge!"
They've stopped risky multi million $ investments in new IPs and only have left the few yuge ones like Halo, Forza and Gears, all who sell less than the 360 games. MS is only interested in the biggest games now, preferably service based. They're also trying hard to not have the 360 userbase migrate to PS4 with their BC program, too little, too late.
Problem with Xbox is that it's a really Mericun company, who is leading Xbox EU and Xbox JPN? They aren't very visible locally. Sony otoh, has a Scottish dude speaking Japanese leading a company headquartered in Merica, has an English speaking Japanese above and under him. Nearly all of Sony's games are translated in all the languages of the countries they sell in.

Sony never really had an issue with games with Microsoft. They were already beating them with exclusives from mid last gen. In fact last gen exposed how little Microsoft had because their first party was questioned towards the end of last gen. Im sure you can still find articles begging the question about Microsoft was going to put out more exclusives on the Xbox 360 towards the end of the gen while they were focused on the Kinect. Sony was expected by analysts to catch up to the Xbox 360 by 2011 based on their initial sales numbers with the PS3. Problem is they didnt anticipate the years head start, the price and the kinect would slow their ascent to taking their place from Microsoft before the end of the generation. Luckily the Kinects popularity only lasted for two years and Sony had the ability to show off their main exclusives Last of us (among a long list of other games) that opened the floodgates of popularity. Between the 2012-2013 period sony had done what no other brand had ever done and closed a nearly 10 million console gap. Sony created a self inflicted wound by risking its business health to save Blu Ray as a format. Sony won back the gamers good graces and here we are today with the PS4. Business as usual.

True. You're right, their software legacy in the console realm includes literally a handful of games. I believe there was a point last gen when it was reported that Microsoft had more studios than Sony and Nintendo (not combined, but individually). Correct me if I am wrong. I would love to see how a billion dollar Xbox one game investment turns out. LOL....ridiculous things like Sony's M.A.G. come to mind. LOL E3 is so close yet so far.
nothing really, at this point they should focus on being profitable and remaining competitive in the US/UK. They are borderline irrelevant everywhere else.
