Damn, that really sucks. I figured it was going to be an overdose, or mixing medication with alcohol or something.

Yeah, that'd be a horrible thing to happen. My dad had a failed suicide attempt by hanging, but he eventually succeeded later on with an overdose. I can't imagine what his family's going through now.

I wrote that in my post, but I edited it because it was already in the article you linked. I guess The Guardian just updated their article.

Not familiar with the band or the singer. We lost somebody truly iconic earlier this year though when Chuck Berry died.

Damn. He's one of my favorite singers, such an awesome voice. In fact, I just bought the remastered Ultramega OK a few days ago. It totally rocks now btw - I knew there were some great songs hidden in there, and I was right.

If it is indeed an intentional suicide though, it's his kids and wife that are left with the scars. May our thoughts and prayers be with them.

Soundgarden and Audioslave both had #1 albums in the United States, and Chris Cornell was also with Temple of the Dog which had a hit single, and he also did the theme song for Casino Royale as a solo artist, so he's actually pretty well known. Soundgarden are one of the big 4 Seattle grunge bands, along with Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Alice in Chains.

Yep, too bad. Wasn't that familiar with his work outside of the famous stuff like Black Hole Sun though, but his Bond song was one of the best.

Chris Cornell was someone truly iconic, mind you.
