Its going to take some time.....
If switch is at 7.63m shippped, and PS4 is at like ~67m shipped... by september 30th.
Theres still a 60m or so gap, for the switch to close.

The race against 3DS is one I'm most interested in to see if Switch drops its price and takes of fin Japan like I expect it to.

Not on total global sales, you fool
For now, let's just see if it catches up in its first year aligned.

For consoles, Nintendo shows shipments. They refer to them as sales because shipping is equal to selling to retailers. For games, Nintendo shows shipments including digital sales. Once again the same logic applies for physical goods, shipments are refered to as sales because the goods are sold to retailers. Or in other words, the sales figures for games on NIntendo's website consist of sold through copies, copies on shelves of retailers and sold digital copies. |
Thanks Rol.

Although I personally don't believe in it, it's certainly not impossible. Nintendo is aiming at 14 million FY, so it's dong equally well as the PS4. |
Sure it's possible, we are just to far away to have any certainty. As I said so far Switch is doing fantastic and the 14M is quite good, we will need to monitor the next couple years to see what is the trend for LT.

Even easier way, on official figures (like finnancial announcements) it's shipped because it needs 100% certainty. Same with Sony and MS (if they released their numbers), on PR it will depend of their wording. Sony have been clear when they ment sold to customer, not sure about Nintendo releases.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Fair thinking there, thank you Don.
Good, steady sales. Ahead of 3DS (post pricecut) is nice to witness.

And this is probably still subject to some adjustments as the numbers are a bit low for 7.63M Consoles shipped. I could see 3-400k on shelves, and even then barely for many regions, but the way it's heading would indicate twice as many consoles in storage.
Edit: Which week is Mario Odyssey release week?
