Forums - Gaming - Waiting to play AC: Unity was the best thing ever.

Good to hear, Assassin's Creed: Unity is not as bad as most people think imo!

I loved AC Unity so much!

Tip: Turn off the map (keep the hud and on screen waypoints of course) So much more immersive, you get lost in paris, and running away from guards is a million times more entertaining not knowing if you'll reach a dead end.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

So, does that mean you've become a patient gamer? I've been one for a long time, but that's mainly because I can't afford to get games at full price!

For games I don't value at full price at launch I wait for a bargain. And thanks to ps plus and awesome sales I've more games then I can play so for titles that are not must play at launch I just wait for a cheap sale.

Its like a better AC1, IMHO Syndicate is much better.

Great to hear.  I look forward to getting Syndicate cheap this black friday sale.

Playing Horizon like that made it so much better.  Instead of travelling with your eyes on the mini map you actually soak up your surroundings and pay attention to the details.

Well... i just disagree with the last two points, especially the last. Unity is not bad, but the story is underwhelming, though it has been ever since the AC2 games. But, the biggest problem with every AC game is there. It's repetitive and get's boring and grindy fast.

So why am I so happy?

1. Got the game so cheap

2. A million bugs and performance issues are fixed

3. I have the Pro so the frame rate is as smooth as butter.

4. The game is awesome.

So yeah you can really tell there was no last gen version.  The game is a proper next gen Assassin’s Creed in gameplay and graphics.  Story is awesome so far.

I have to disagree. While I didn't experience many of the bugs that plauged the games launch either, I still rate it as the worst AC game by a countrymile.

Why? The gameplay is dreadful by AC standards, focusing more on stealth than combat. So players may like this, but AC is not, and never has been, a sleath based game. In particular, the need to finish off ever assassination target with the hidden blade is extremely cumbersome. As each target is so heavily guarded and almost impossible to sneak up on, you re forced into mass brawls which Atprno really struggles in as he has virtually no health, cannot counter properly lile other protagonists and cannot dodge gunfire. It makes the gameplay a chore.

Platform around the city, a key gameplay element, is fundamentally broken as the streets are too far apart to jump across, umlike last gen versions. This makes much of the travel around the city really frustrating as you have to constantly come back dowwn to street level. There is also no really character to the city as all the streets and buidlings are carbon copies of each other. Other locations in past games, at least mixed things up.

Equally, the plot is a bog-standard revenge plot mix with a cliched romeo-juliet love story. The characters are bland and by time of the reveal of the main villian, I had completely forgotten where I had met him previously in the story.

I stopped the Assassin's Creed games after Revelations because I was burnt out and heard bad things about 3. Just picked up black flag, unity, and syndicate during the PSN sale last week. Is 3 necessary or should I just skip it? Might pick it up on steam at a super cheap price down the line.

I did the same. Waited about 6 months after it came out and picked up a digital copy for around $20. It came free with some DLC too. It's actually an alright game. Not anything amazing but far better than a lot of people would lead you to believe.

No. 3 does actually suck. Black flag is one of the better AC games. 3 will just burn you out again!

If you care about the modern day story, I'd say 3 is neccessary because it has the conclusion to the Desmond storyline. If you don't care about the modern storyline, it's not really neccessary to play it, though I personally enjoyed 3 (it's better than Revelations and Unity imo). Rogue is really good as well, though sadly Ubisoft still hasn't ported it to XB1/PS4 (you can get it on Steam though).

I could've sworn they ported it. Or maybe i imagined that.

Im going on record to say Liberation is decent as well. They have some cool elements like switching identities (you can go from high class lady in a dress, slave and Assassin, different abilities with each)
