Forums - Nintendo - 80+ Million Switches Need to be Sold in 5 Years or it's a Failure

So you're going to use an exmaple of two systems that play the same discs as reasons why Nintendo won't make two systems that play two seperate discs.

Hey, quick question. Why doesn't the Switch accept a cartridge exactly the same size as the 3DS, and offer a means of backwards compatiblity with DS/3DS games? Let me answer that for you. Because not nearly as many people would be buying Mario Kart 8 deluxe for their Switch if they could buy Mario Kart 7 for and get a very similar game at a fraction of the price. Nintendo has a whole library of games that will make fairly easy ports that they can sell you all over again, so why wouldn't they?

Word is the main reason that Nintendo discontinued the NES Classic was because it was devaluing the games on the Virtual Console, which will soon be launching on the Switch. It's hard to convince people to pay $5 for SMB3 when it has a relative value of less than $2 on the NES classic.

It's all about the benjamins, make no mistake about it.

You must be trolling at this point.

How could anyone who disagrees with you possibly mean what they say, right?

But The NES Mini sold like 2 million, Switch only needs 78 Million - SNES Mini sales to succeed.

I'll spot you the 2million + SNES, unfortunately it doesn't add to the software purchasing user base, but hardware is hardware.

That's an interesting way to look at it, but I don't think that is necessarily the case :/

What do you know! All high and mighty up on that throne of yours with the other Moderators. You cant tell us what to do!

Nintendo's IOS/Android software will make up for it.

Better to have one great console than one good and one bad.

And do we not forget about smartphone games. They will bring profits and spread the IP.

Basically, they will have one platform for console gaming instead of two seperate like before, but now they will have mobile games and theme parks.

it has less to do with you disagreeing and more to do with your argument being dumb.

Yes, of course. Keep reading what you want from what Nintendo says and treating it like fact.

If you perceive the Switch as a home console, your opinion is already wrong.

The specs of the machine were designed for mobility, it has a screen on it, its a mobile gaming device.

Its a success if it makes money and hopefully a lot, period.

it goes both ways, Kimishima just recently said they are not currently developing a seperate dedicated handheld device.

but go ahead and keep pretending they will.
