It's better to get them sometime than never at all.

Not always: I'm sure there are those out there who would have preferred No Man's Sky never release. Not at $60 a pop anyways but that was the price at launch.

I'm sure plenty of people found enjoyment in it, especially after all the updates to the game.  I wouldn't take that game away from them just because it's not for everyone.  More games is always better.

I agree: more games is always better but $60 for a game worked on by a handful of people?..

That stung some consumers I have no doubt. Some who purchased digitally were especially burned since refunds were not always readily available.

No expectations from Sony for me this year. Only thing I hope to hear about is a Sucker Punch game being announced and released this year, otherwise most of Sony's big guns have already been announced or released like:

GG: Horizon
ND: TLOU2
PP: GT Sport
Insomniac: Spider Man, R&C
PS VR studios: ...
Bend: Days Gone
SSM: GoW
MLB Factory: MLB

Guess we can hope for a nice third party deal, but Sony probably spent all their money procuring advertising rights for RDR, SW, CoD etc.

There's Japan Studio aswell, who always have a couple of things going on. MM is working on Dreams, London Studio is making an unannounced PSVR game, Manchester Studio is making an unannounced PSVR game, I honestly think there's a good chance we get a Bloodborne 2 announcement sometime this year.

So, If I had to guess the two big announcements will be the new Sucker Punch game, and Bloodborne 2. Or maybe something unexpected, who knows.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

E3 is obsolete with everyone online and able to get the news themselves. I am surprised it hasn't died yet, considering companies have bigger marketing opportunities available to them for significantly less time/money cost and effort.

Certainly not. Conventions like E3 and Gamescom represent the possibility to reach a large audience of international press and consumer with a single hour long event and create a maximum of buzz. Even more so effective in times of the information age.

companies have bigger marketing opportunities available to them for significantly less time/money cost and effort.

For example?  Door to door salesmen building a personal relationship to the customer?

Well Gamescon is much larger than E3. E3 does feel quite pointless anymore. Nintendo with directs is a cheaper and well with no pun intended..direct. It's honestly better than awkward elborate stage shows that only serve the purpose of being an awkward elborate stage show. A lot of E3 is relying out outdated methods to deliver content that is left from the days when E3 is purely a media press conference. With the internet and streaming being full swing. They could easily deliver the news in a smaller easier more direct way. It's no wonder Nintendo,EA and others kinda do thier own thing now. I mean think about it. What does E3 honestly bring that we cannot get anywhere else? What makes E3 so unique that we need it to announce games? Nothing really. There is so many shows like it now that do a better job and reach more people,it's not needed anymore. It's not 1994 when E3 was born out of CES ignoring game devlopers and E3 was the only show for games. There is some show like E3 ir delivering the same kinda of news almost monthly now.

I'm expecting a release date for the No Man's Sky beta.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

My predictions:

The live orchestra will make an appearance again
We'll see a working version of Dreams
Bloodborne 2 will make a video appearance
GOW4 will get a gameplay demo
Days Gone will have another gameplay presentation
TLOU2 'may' get another short video showing an encounter
Gameplay of Uncharted Lost Legacy will be played on stage (this could mean TLOU2 isn't shown)
Spiderman will get a gameplay video
We'll get a few Indie showcases to keep the 'independents' happy
RDR3 will get a gameplay video introducing each main character
Destiny 2 will be on stage with a live gameplay section
COD WW2 will be there (no brainer)
Sony will announce more remasters of classics
PS1 titles will be made available for the PS4/Pro
Price cuts across the board (if the price of the Scorpio has been announced and it's cheaper than expected)
Resistance remastered from Insomniac (probably shown just after Spiderman)
Killzone 2 remaster.

The PS5 Exists.

Obviously Knack 2 will be there
