God I hate this term with every fiber of my existence. Yeah you backtrack and get upgrades but aside form that the games could not be more different as they aim for two totally different things. May as well call Crash and Super Magnetic Neo games MarioSonicatformers.

Terrible analogy. Anywho, its an easy way to explain that style of game.
Yeah, its essentially a game with explortation, back tracking, and upgrades. But just saying Metroidvania is easier.

Naughty Dog called Crash during devlopment "Sonic's Ass" since you saw the back of Crash. They modeled it to look like Sonic in 3D before there was Sonic in 3D.
Remakes of Super Castlevania and Dracula's Curse would be awesome!
And I agree, stop with the grindy Metroid RPG Castlevanias unless it is a REAL Metroid Castlevania, without level up grinding, but something like energy tanks and weapon upgrade locations.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
