Actually, maybe that's the reason why I support emulation. I want everyone else to be using ROMs and ISOs so that the actual copies will be cheaper for me |
well, I must admit I was very happy to play full throttle on my wii, thanks to scummvm. Now it is back on the menu thanks to remastering.

I buy games when I can, but the reality is that even with all the games I have, there's no way I'll ever be able to afford to get all the games I want. Now, I guess that shouldn't be a problem, since my backlog is already huge as is, but now I'm so used to getting a certain number of games that it's hard to stop! It is nice though being able to just test games out on an emulator, I play a ton of retro games on my uncle's modded OG Xbox.
Emulators are legal. ROMs are legal.
Playing the ROM of a game you don't own, digitally or otherwise, is illegal.

Technically it might be the act of downloading a ROM is illegal and not playing the ROM of a game you don't own, but I'm not sure. Either way, that's just a minor detail that has no effect on your point, which sums up the situation really well.
OK, as per Miguel's suggestion, I decided to make a thread of more obscure games being emulated. Feel free to post your own discoveries there!!

You got my point, so arguing the semantics of wording seems pointless ;)

Well that goes without saying. Overall, digital piracy was a disaster for the music industry. Streaming revenue hasn't come close to replacing what was lost. |
What about stuff like MTV, and youtube, and radio? dont those contribute to the music industry ?
They arnt shown here right? and probably make up bigger and bigger parts of the industry.

I don't really know anything about this, but if I had to guess, YouTube would be under streaming, radio would be losing its ground against streaming, and I have no idea about MTV but I wouldn't exactly expect it to be huge. At the very least, it's probably losing ground to services like YouTube unless it has changed a lot and I just don't know it.
