Whut?Digital sales are always included in the financial reports. It is included in the shipment numbers.

My bad.

Let's use VG Chartz numbers then because having to guess digital sales is talking out of our asses. Numbers for RE 7 are worse than past games. It's already sub 35k something that happend with RE5/6 after the 10th week. RE7 dropped below that number on the 8th week. It's tracking behind those games and I don't see this game having great legs.

I just don't see it, RE 7 is not going to get to RE5/6 levels of sales.

But you see, in an age that digital sales gets more and more important, to simply ignore it is to make an unfair comparison.

I will take your word up to it and believe that RE 7 is already falling behind in week to week sales compared to RE 5 and 6 physical sales. But RE 7 is available on PC, while they both werent(at least, not at launch or anywhere near it as far as I know), and PC sales are 100% digital.Going further into this, even digital consoles sales are relevant, taking about 20% of sales right now.If you ignore those numbers, and assuming that shipment numbers are somewhat close to the sell through numbers, you are basically ignoring 1 million sales, out of 3.5.That is too significant a number to ignore in an comparison.

The fairest comparison would be to compare the shipment numbers alligned. But I dont think we have that number, do we?

It wouldn't be truly fair since RE5/6 weren't on PC at launch so initial shipment numbers wouldn't include digital sales like RE7 does.

I would love to have digital numbers, I know they account for a lot of sales... but we don't have them.  As for the week comparision you can check it! Go and look for the games on the database and hit the global button, you have sales up to the 10th week. Further than that... you would have to go week by week. Too much trouble...

Thats excellent news.RE7 was excellent.Especially the fact that its not like RE 5 and 6.Thank god

Dont get me wrong, I would also love a third person game. But Im more than happy with this direction.

For me it's more a case of waiting for another Resi game from someone else that captures what I loved about the first few Resi titles. R7 didn't really do that for me and ofc the sucess means they will just emulate what R7 has done like they did when R4 was a success, so I'm basically not into the future of the franchise anymore, not unless they go back to Resi 1-3 style roots. until then I'll be looking into other horror games that grab my attention and support them instead.

If RE7 didnt have the PC version, then the sales for the console counterpart could be higher, or at the very least a good part of the PC sales would be redistributed to the consoles. The reality is that RE 7 launched with a PC version.Dwelling on what if and scenarios that are too hypotetical will lead to nothing when discussing past sales.Thats my take on it anyways.

What I will say though, is that RE 7 was much better received(in general), than RE 5, and specially RE 6.So that could teoretically make its legs much better, and thats what im basically betting on(which in turn will lead to a very good LT sales for RE 7, finishing around 5 or 6 millions). But this part I admit is just pure speculation.

Fair enough.

I think thats why they are making RE 2 remake actually. They are trying different styles, beginning with RE 7, to see what works best.

I think ideally, they should go on with RE 7 style for at least 2 more main entries and change again, just like they have been doing with RE so far(as to not become stale), and at the same time, make the spin off revelations games the "action packed" RE for the more action oriented fans.Make it all part of the same universe and make events in each "franchise" have effect on the other, but each keeps its own storylines, much like with the relation betwenn the marvel movies and the marvel tv shows.

I want to look forward to REmake 2, but I have a feeling that they will end up changing more of it than simply sticking to what 2 was exactly like. Also if it's a game of seeing which sells better then that definitely doesn't bode well for REmake 2 and that path in general.

There isn't all that much to change tbh. If they carry on with the way 7 is designed, then there will only be minor chanegs made, then we'll absically have ourselves Resi 7 being the main template and Resi 1-3 being long forgotten, so the hopes of a "change" happening after the enxt 2 games won't have them going back, it will have them going forward with 7 and not the early titles.

Ideally I'd love if 7 was a new IP and they return to Resi 1-3 and start over. That way fans of what 7 was like can play it as a new IP and invest in that franchise, while I can carry on investing in the Resi one, but as the way things currently are, I don't see myself investing at all until they go back to what the first few games were like.

Dead Rising sales really don't surprise me, which is unfortunate since I want the franchise to do great, they just need to go back to the first game with the mechanics and everything

It's not really going to happen and I was kinda writing an article about this. As much as I love the franchise, it's kind of dead at this point, in dire need of a reboot or something else.

You didn't think 7 played like the earlier games? For me, it felt like a homecoming. The first hour definitely plays closer to something like Amnesia or Outlast, but after that the gameplay loops start to resemble those from the original titles — inventory management, problem-solving, fight-or-flight enemy encounters. Obviously the perspective and setting are different, but in terms of survival-horror mechanics, I think 7 felt like a spiritual successor to the games on PS1, N64, and Dreamcast.

Would you say it's a Dead franchise, and that it needs Rising? ;)

I was thinking more in the lines of "Dead Isn't Rising Anymore".

How high were they expecting Resi 7. It sold better than PT would have. It will sell better long term. Capcom re-releases their games many times.
