Forums - Nintendo - Rumor: Final Fantasy VII Remake For Switch To Be Shown At E3

Lets look at hard facts here. Final fantasy 7 in all its versions has only been released on PlayStation consoles, PC, and mobile.

Sony published the original game so I don't see the remake going to other platforms besides PC.

You guys need to consider something here. Metal gear solid 4 is PS3 exclusive, meanwhile mgs5 is not.

Ff7R is a similar scenario. No other platforms will have it except PS4 and PC.

OK, lets look at some facts, lotsa IPs that were exclusively on PS1 and PS2 later become multi platform games last and this generation, that goes for FF also. Fact that they said for FF7R "play it first on PS4" screems multplatform game that will just be relased 1st on PS4.

No miracle needed. Just business sense.

Business sense that will prevent them from releasing the game on the Switch :)

Actual opposite, FFVII 7R could easily sell around 1m copies on Switch, while costs of porting on Switch would be recovered with just 200-300k copies sold on Switch.

I think it's nearly impossible because the game it's PS4 first so the marketing is in SONY hands due to a partnership.

Plus Tetsuya Nomura said that the game will push PS4 beyond it's limits. How a game optimized for push PS4 at full capacity will run on Switch? FFXV can't run on Switch, imagine a new FF that will push PS4 even further. I think that after a year or so it will come to PC as the original one and stop. Square is dropping on Xbox One so i don't think it will come out there.

"Play it first on PS4" means exactly that, it will be just released 1st on PS4, that doesn't mean they can't announce game for other platforms in meantime.

Evre game could be ported on almost every hardware, Wii that was 20-30x less powerful than PS3/Xbox360 received ports of PS3/Xbox 360 Call of Duty games.Switch is around 3-5x less powerful than PS4, and not only its very easy to work with Switch, but also games uses UE4 engine that its very scalable and its supported by Switch.

A "Play it first game" on PS4.. showing game play at a Nintendo E3 conference? Zero chance.

I'd be surprised if they got the game at all, but to the point of showing game play this year? Hell no.

This notion that "Because Cloud is in Smash" means FF7R will be on Switch is just wishful thinking. If that's suppose to be true, then why is there no Metal Gear games for the past decade on Nintendo when Smash has Solid Snake?

Snake was in Smash for GameCube and actualy GameCube had Metal Gear game, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.

Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater also came out a couple of years after Snake in Smash, but Nintendo had already collaborated with Kojima by that time on MGS: Twin Snakes which Nintendo had their own 2nd party work on (Silicon Knights).

Speaking of which I think you'll see a lot more Konami content on Switch. They're probably pretty happy with those Bomberman R sales.

EDIT: If you actually go back to the 3DS unveiling E3, the "Metal Gear Solid franchise" (not just MGS3) was supposed to be on 3DS. I'm guessing the PSP MGS series was meant to continue on 3DS perhaps, but Konami didn't like Snake Eater 3D's sales and/or became enamored with mobile. But at the time it even got the loudest applause from the E3 crowd:

It might come to the switch but showing any footage for the switch at this year e3 will not happen. Ps4 version needs to be finished first before they start working on the switch version.

You don't know any of that. Unless you have the contract in front of you, you can't have any idea what the terms are.

So instead of working hard to get the game out for the ps4 some time next year, they are now also working on the switch version and delay the game even further? I can say that ain't happening and therefore there will be no footage of switch version until the ps4 version is finished.

Second team can work on Switch port regardless PS4 version and without effect on PS4 version, and ofcourse PS4 version of game will be 1st release in any case.

Anyone remember how they first announced the FFVII remaster coming to PS4 and it was the original PS1 version?

I think this is what may happen here.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Great. I want to the original FF7 on Switch. I think the FF7R could happen too. Though I will say this right now -- I don't think that game is going to be as good as people think it is. They're going to change a bunch of shit that's going to piss a lot of people off.

Just imagine meltdown on internet if Nintendo console relly gets main FF game (it would be 1st time after SNES) and actually Remake of probably best PS1 game and espacily Remake of FF7 game that lotsa people thought its was 1st party game. :D

We already seeing here points that Switch won't get FF7R because FF7 was PS1 exclusive. :D

Well, we've seen stranger things happening, so we can't completely rule it out.

That said, having the game at E3 on Nintendo's conference/Direct is very, very unlikely.
