"The opposite of a gamer is a feminist."

I hear that expression all the time, from both gamers and feminists alike. There seems to be a general consensus that gamers cannot be feminists and vice versa. You know, this mentality is why I for one appreciate fringe organizations like the ever-controversial Feminist Frequency that say it's okay to be both, at the same time and everything. (Not that I ALWAYS agree with them, but I appreciate the crux of what they do.) But you know, these types of groups obviously don't represent the cultural mainstream of either scene. That's why of late I've taken to gauging the opinions of more mainstream feminists and here I hope to do so for more mainstream gamers as well. In a feminist hangout of mine, I recently asked why gaming is evil. Here I want to ask why you think makes feminists evil. I hope I can bridge this gap a little bit so that, you know, maybe people like me won't be so stigmatized as traitors everywhere we go.

First off, let's clarify what I mean when I say that I'm a feminist. By that I mean that I count myself as an advocate for the rights of women and support the establishment of equal social relations between men and women and indeed people of all genders. I don't mean something other than that. (I have to say that because apparently lots of people confuse feminism for female supremacy.)

Anyway, that established, the arguments that I hear from feminists against gaming seem to basically trace to Gamergate, which gets stupidly conflated with the attitudes of the gaming community writ large. That seems to be at the root of much of this enmity from their perspective.

I'm guessing that conversely the general attitude toward feminists here is that feminists just want all games to pander to women or whatever bullshit like that. And I'm guessing that this stupid attitude is also rooted in a massive double-standard wherein the people who view feminists that way never complain when games (far more often) pander to men (or don't even recognize it as pandering because they're so used to it that it just seems like the natural order of things). Something like that. Am I right? Is that why you think feminists are evil and cannot be 'real gamers' or whatever?

Men and women are equal in the western world now. They have the same rights. Women might even have a few more. Its not needed here anymore. Go fight for women in places were they barely have any rights.

I for one think that every character in every videogame should be female. And everyone who disagrees is a meninist.

Modern feminism is against the women, it harms women, it allies with the very people that oppress them the most, like the Sharia Law Feminists, which want Sharia Law to be the norm, even knowing that Sharia Law is oppressive against women.
Leftists, globalists and most atheists love the feminists, do not think they are evil at all.

Most young girls get into feminism having no idea what are they getting into, most young boys do it to please the girls, they are not evil, but naive.
Puppets are never evil, when we say feminism and globalism is evil, we are talking about the puppeteers behind these Agendas, not the good hearted people that fall into it without knowing what they are really supporting.
A simple example is: in real life everyone can see that most men love women, almost worship them, almost fear them, would do anything to please them. In the Agenda they hate women and there should be a neverending gender wars.
The hidden objectives of the puppeteers are evil, destruction of family, sovereignty of the nations and the value of half of the mankind. Unspeakable evil disguised as the most noble of the causes: the protection of the beautiful and precious women.

Feminists do not fight in the interest of women, they only fight for themselves. Instead of equality, they strive for discrimination of the other gender. In many cases feminists are gay and fight for goals that real women do not want.

The result of feminism is always discrimination of the other gender and never equality. I do not have a problem with gender equality but I have a big problem with discrimination and therefore with feminism.

What? How do you even come to that conclusion?

Specially here in brazil. All our laws that make a differentiation between men and women do so to please and protect women:

- Here in Brazil women retire 5 years to 10 years early.

- We give 6 months off to women that want to be mothers.

- We have special fast-track judiciary laws and procedures to deal with any kind of violence against women.

- We have quota for women in some jobs and public positions.

- We have a "the mother is always right" policy in the judiciary system. So, if you are getting a divorce, prepare to face hell, if you are a man.

I could go on and on. I think we are not evil when we do the best to keep girls happy and safe. Feminism is not the best deal to women, a society that protects and pleases girls is better than a perfectly equal society.

I think it mostly comes down to the effect of extremes on each side. You have a minority on the gaming side who think that only games that pander to men are good, and a minority on the feminist side that think anything that panders to men is bad.

The problem with extremes if they tend to be the most ideologically driven, so will shout louder and work harder than anyone else to get what they went. They can quickly become the face of an idea, which slowly drags those around them further out as the see how 'terrible' the face of the other side is.

The real-world effect can be interesting. The overwhelming majority of feminists will tell you they're want equality, but from the perspective of an outsider it will sometimes seem like they're actively working to widen inequality (education being the one of most significant examples). Then on the gaming end, the overwhelming majority will tell you they couldn't care less what the gender or race of a games protagonist is, yet to an outsider it will sometimes seem like the whole gaming community will at random get angry at a game for it.
