Forums - Gaming - SJW: Most Abused Term Ever?

Just because something is common place now, doesnt mean its not feminist or SJW. Women in the workplace is commonplace now, but it's still a feminist thing, since it is feminists who brought about that change. We used to have virtually no female characters in games, but now we have a sizable portion. Since that wasn't the norm in the past it will always be an SJW/feminist thing, since not long ago in all of our lifetimes this wasn't a thing and is a change brought about by the SJW/feminist interest groups.

The word has lost it's meaning because it's so overused (just like similar words like libtard, feminazi, nazi, ...).

According to some people on the internet, I'm a libtard alpha male SJW.

SJW and alpha male seems mutually exclusive to me.

Of course, I haven't been called like that by the same person, but by different persons. One calls me an alpha male, someone else calls me an SJW.
My point is, people are using are using these words way too much and without thinking about the actual meaning, because (like you said) one person cannot be both an alpha male and an SJW.

Maybe you don't mean it like that, but you're basically saying that you think that's a bad thing (women being able to work and being represented in video games), since SJW is a 100% negative word.

I think thats up to everybodys POV. Some think its a bad thing, most probably think it's a good thing. Regardless, I consider anything that's driven by a social agenda to be SJW. That doesn't mean it's bad, it doesn't mean it's good. It just is what it is. TV shows trying to represent racial groups and genders and orientations equally for example is an SJW thing, because it is done with a specific agenda in mind. It's not random, it's not conicidental. Whether you think that's a good thing or bad is up to your individual opinion, but I don't see the issue with acknowledging that it's driven by a cultural and social agenda. To me SJW is just a catch phrase for that. and yeah, I realize it has a negative connotation, but I think that mainly has to do with people not liking social and cultural agenda's funneled in to their every day lives thay they aren't already agreement with to begin with.

Important female roles and female leads weren't brought about by feminists and it definitely wasn't brought about by SJW's. Capitalism and a consistantly hightened morale system per generation are probably the biggest reasons. Conusmers will keep buying whatever they are willing to buy and companies will keep selling what makes money. Feminists aren't going to change that.

Also, what change have feminists brought about, really? There are many women's rights activists from the early 1900's who did more for women than any feminist or SJW group could ever possibly do today. Women's rights activists died fighting for equality and back then there was a lot of inequality. Feminists have barely changed a thing and as for SJW's....they are the ugly stepchildren of third wave feminists.

Naughty Dog didn't choose Ellie (from TLoU) to be the way she was due to feminism/SJW's so much as to sculpt her into the story in such a way that would elevate the premise and characters.

There's a kind of person who is really really angered by your typical SJWs and in that moment actually becomes their own breed of SJW.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

A new hero is rising! Bill Nye the gender guy.

There were female leads in games before these stupid little shits were even born. If they hate women that much, at least they'll do us the favor of dying being the dead end in their genepool.

Well I am a person and I don't hate games that are actually about something.

In any event though, while I'm not finished with CSH yet, I can relay that, as yet, it is no more directly political than your average Zelda game. (All games with characters in them are political in one sense or another, whether intentionally or not.)

Um?

It's so muddled. Extremists on all sides of it are way overboard.
