Well, if there's one thing that can be said, it's that this thread is at least generating a lot of discussion!

Its the ultimate butthurt. Sony third party is good for all gamers? lol For PC gamers, yes its fucking amazing, more games for them its good. Better for sony gamers ? to some , sony fans that dont care about pc gaming its not good and if you want to play those games you need to built a pc and its not cheap despite what people loves to tell you, xbox/pc gamers? good, sony/pcgamers yep. Nintendo fanbase ? Those games would still not appear on nintendo consoles like most third party so to them its a no factor. |
First point: This was never a reaction thread. This is an honest opinion I have since I started out on this site:

Second Point: "Sony gamers" are a small portion of the people who buy a PS4. Gamers that aren't tied to a single console would gladly switch to a PC to get the same experiences with better hardware. Also remember that eliminating the need of a PS4 would leave gamers with more available cash to upgrade their PC.
I can't understand why you are against it. You would get the same Sony exclusives on a much better hardware... Uncharted 4 on a high end PC would look stunning.
"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"
Man, this thread sure brought out some snark, I tell you what.
Since some in the thread have already blown things way out of proportion (some even thinking Sony>every other corner of the industry for example), I've been thinking on a thread, asking if it would be good for PC gaming to completely die out and your favourite brand dominating over everything, I'm sure the snarky ones would happily agree without a second thought.
Some people have already suggested the idea that Sony still remain in the hardware, but pull an MS and sell to PC directly as well (directly as in like Steam, not with crappy server streaming games that you'll never get to keep). That idea itself doesn't sound doom and gloom (but I suppose sharing is always doom and gloom when you have zilch to fap and gloat over in terms of gameplay/visuals).
Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

Hmm. August 2014 is 14 months after June 2013! Maybe you were radicalized by the PC guys here!
The biggest advantage of Sony going third party would be that all of the third party exclusives they're holding hostage right now could be made available on more systems.
ClassicGamingWizzz said: So you agree also that nintendo should do the same, imagine a zelda game on a high end PC, thread should be about all 3 , sony nintendo and microsoft. Some people dont care about high end pc, some people dont want to built a pc , some people dont care if you play a game at 60 fps and with better AA, people keep buying xbox consoles for a reason now that their games are on pc and console. |
Nintendo is different. They don't value hardware over games so it wouldn't make sense for them to go third party. Their games wouldn't benefit from having powerful hardware significantly.
Sony's first party offerings do benefit from that though. Games like Uncharted, Horizon, The Last of Us, etc.
For people who don't care about 60fps and better AA you have a Nintendo console that offers a simple yet limited hardware experience. And the rest of the gamers that do value hardware over games could game on PC.

Not going to happened. Playstation is what is keeping Sony as a company alive right now.

I don't feel like PC dying out is a good thing. I just wish PC gamers would accept that exclusives exist, and if you want to play them you'll have to buy the corresponding platform.
The only way Sony release their games on PC is if they did it like MS: making their own storefront. And they just watched Microsoft's storefront crash, burn, and fail when their storefront is built into Windows. Sony isn't going to release on Steam, because the entire purpose of making exclusives is to get people on their platform and increase the sales figures of games like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed (from which Sony takes a cut for being on their platform). Putting, say, Uncharted 4 on Steam doesn't give Sony CoD sales, it gives Valve sales. Yeah, Sony makes some money off of their game, but they'll start hemorrhaging userbase to Stream. And that userbase is their livelihood.
