I enjoy the Switch, and i love Zelda which i mainly play on my 4k TV while Docked. If Nintendo brought out a Dock V.2 would you buy one?

Reason for this question

My friend came around and showed me his new Microsoft Tablet (Surface Book Performance Base). What i saw blew my mind. I am sure this is old tech by now. Its a Tablet like any other which has a separate Keyboard that connects to it. When the Tablet is Docked with the Keyboard it has access to a Nvidea 960m GPU. While it is detached from the Keyboard it uses the inbuilt CPU/GPU in the Tablet. The moment i saw this i thought to myself, i wonder if Nintendo would follow suit and design and create a Docking Station for the Switch which has an inbuilt GPU that will greatly increase performance on all games and possibly increase Resolution and Framerates especially if it had a 970m or 980m GPU built inside. I am sure Nvidea and Nintendo can work something out since the Switch is based off the Nvidea Tegra chip.

Since MS are most likely showing the Scorpio at this years E3, i wonder if Nintendo will answer with a Switch Upgrade like this?

Imagin playing Zelda at 60 frames or a higher resolution? Its doubtful Nintendo will do the upgrade however the Technology exists and i am sure they can create a Docking Station upgrade that can utilise a seprate GPU instead of the Switch's one.

What are your thoughts?

UPDATED - My friend showed me his Surface Book Performance Base, warning it wasnt cheap but is a good peice of Tech.

I would buy it sure, the problem I think would be how would the portable version of the same game fare?

I wonder if Nintendo would consider a portable mode with a battery pak so that the Tegra X1 can run at its peak, so there isn't as much of a gap.

It would be cool but I doubt the design of the switch allows something like that. Yea the switch has usb-C but I doubt its usb-C with thunderbolt or a similar setup. Probably just a standard usb-C.

I'd prefer to see cheap 3rd party docks so I can dock in various parts of home easily.

As for increased horsepower, I'd rather see incremental new launches of future Switch systems that are more powerful as I do play it undocked quite frequently.

For those users who really don't care about the portability, then a SwitchTV type of console that is just a docked version would be better than a dock that up's the power IMO.

I say all this as I don't want to see a dramatic difference in playability between portable and docked. That would be jarring to the users.

You will buy a Switch for each one of your children, that's how you get enough docks for your house.

Still need one for my bedroom. :)

So long as it works like the PS4 Pro, yes it would be an excellent idea. Games could run at 2K/4K res, or have double framerate and better antialiasing. Would happily pay £150 for such a dock.

Happy wife, happy life.

Yeah, Superchunk can play Snipperclips with his wife in the bedroom.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I wouldn't buy it because the original dock is already strong enough for me.

I'd like a cheaper and weaker one though, or even a Switch without a dock included.

I don't think is possible, how would you scale a game like lets say "Horizon 1080p/30FPS" docked to a portable mode? I also like to point out that the console get REALLY HOT docked when I play Zelda and the fan spins like crazy, how would they manage that?

The original dock is just a piece of plastic, lol. There's nothing inside of it but a circuit board for the USB and HDMI connections.
