I think a spin-off is more likely but that said I think splat2 is close to 4mil in japan and it’s currently doing better this year than last. It’ll be at least 4.5mil lifetime with a good chance at 5mil

Close but no cigar, Its basically impossible now to achieve

Splatoon 2 in Japan sold 378,340 in the whole of 2019
It would have to keep that number up until about 2025 to reach 5 million

Splatoon2 was at 3.8mil by end of 2019. Game is doing close to double sales compared to last year weekly. It’s nowhere near impossible m, especially when the floor is 4.5mil lifetime

I hope they don't release Splatoon 3 on switch, Splatoon 2 is still a good game. Also (maybe because of my lack of imagination) I have a hard time seeing any reason to release a sequel on the same platform since it's a MP game. Just keep resources for developing new guns, levels and game modes in the core game, if not free, release them a paid DLC if the want more revenue.

So Splatoon fest will continue to March 2021 and Splatoon 2 is up YoY by a good amount. Maybe it’ll be 4.5mil by years end (ship+digital)

4.5mil ship+digital. Looks like I get that cigar and some since it’s aiming for 6mil
