Forums - Gaming Discussion - None of the blockbuster 3rd party games coming to switch 2017

Switch lifetime figures?

12-15 million 72 7.05%

15-20 million 58 5.68%

20-25 million 78 7.64%

25-30 million 119 11.66%

Way more than the above 694 67.97%

Total:1,021

I mean I didn't see any of these games on 3DS and it was very successful and just because it didn't have Star Wars Battlefront, didn't mean it had any shortage of 3rd party support either.

Even if Switch sold 150m unit I don't think these game will come to it.

A handheld gamer only (for now).

Not even League Of Legends has been announced for it yet.
You can't release a new console and just ignore 100 million users, so I agree the Switch is pretty much screwed.

Yup, pretty much this.

Gameplay > Graphics

Substance > Style

Art Direction > Realism

In this case I think they would, Switch is a slick device, don't get it twisted, most people buying it are adults and it has been positively received by the hardcore gaming community more or less I would say

Being able to play fairly high end 3D games anywhere is an appealling core feature.

The issue is it's hard to port these games likely without major sacrifices having to be made, particularily to run in portable mode.

There are other games that are doable, but Star Wars in particular I think would be tough.

By hardcore community, do you mean the hardocre nintendo fans? If not, what are you basing this observation on?

Breath of The Wild, Splatoon 2, MK Deluxe and Mario Oddissey are not being released on ps4 or XBO

Does this bold well for their futures?

Nintendo tried to [mostly] rely on first party games alone with the Wii U... Did it do good for them?

This thread is gold. People honestly believe that the absence of these games will harm Nintendo and cite the Wii U as supporting evidence.

What's really going on is what I've been saying for years. Nintendo shouldn't suck up to third parties and instead turn a perceived weakness (no AAA third party) into a strength. Switch is doing exactly that. The console excludes AAA third party by design and that's why Switch can exist in its form in the first place.

The conscious decision that Nintendo made here is the difference between a Wii U and a Wii.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

They mostly relied on first partty games alone with all their other consoles too.

Yes, and with the Wii being the exception, it's been going downward since the SNES.

i imagine Destiny 2 will be viewed in the same light as the first Destiny game, so its not a big loss.

Battlefront 2... stick a pin in that one for now. we need a bit more info on it.

Red Dead 2 on the other hand is a big loss for the console, but its not surprising that it wont be on the Switch. Rockstar doesnt exactly like Nintendo all that much.

but despite all this, i still think the Switch will be fine. right now it has enough to stand on to stay afloat. and hopefully by the end of the year more 3rd parties change their mind
