Forums - Gaming Discussion - None of the blockbuster 3rd party games coming to switch 2017

Switch lifetime figures?

12-15 million 72 7.05%

15-20 million 58 5.68%

20-25 million 78 7.64%

25-30 million 119 11.66%

Way more than the above 694 67.97%

Total:1,021

Hard to predict how well Switch will sell based only on third party titles available for Christmas 2017.

What we know for sure is:

- Switch sold more than Wii at launch, despite being launched in March and not during Christmas time.
- Zelda: BoTW is the best selling standalone launch title (i.e. not a bundled game a la Wii Sports) in Nintendo history.
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sets record as fastest-selling game in the franchise.

The switch lifetime figures in your poll are just ridiculous.

So far there's signs that they haven't learned a damn thing.

and what would those signs be?

From the context it's pretty obvious that it's the lack of Western AAA support. Very worrisome.

ah yes, the big multiplatform titles that have been the cause of Nintendo's success in the past.

You know what i maybe wrong but i personally think. That there is some kind of hate for nintendo with some develpors because they dont even attempt to try to make a verision that can fit the switch even with the wii they put out call of duty and lesser quality versions of games wth is going on

because nintendo sucks for third party and has for a long time, plus nintendo fans only buy nintendo games, especially now they cost more than xb1/ps4 games EVEN WHEN BOUGHT DIGITALLY.

dont expect an admission, if theres one thing nintendo fans are good at its distorting everything to make out that its everythings fine, even if in doing so it results in nintendo never changing thier ways because thier fanbase wont tell them that theyre fucking up.

I reserve judgment until E3.
2018 will be the real test.

You know the Switch is doing something right when its getting this much flak from the the ones who want to see Nintendo fail.

The key part of that is if nintendo learnt from it's mistakes or not. So far there's signs that they haven't learned a damn thing. Just seems like they're trying a different console concept out instead. We'll see.

The mistakes with Wii U were marketing, paced game output and pricing.

The first one has easily been corrected and the second seems to doing better.  We'll have to wait to see about the 3rd one.

3rd party AAA content hasn't been sales factor (good or bad) for Nintendo consoles in over a decade.   So the lack of it isn't a mistake.  Again, this is not Sony or MS.

That's because nintendo hasn't really tried to push for 3rd party games in any way even 10 years ago. Barely no 3rd party exclusives or game content. Crappy marketing. Bad attitude towards 3rd party devs. 3rd party games would really help out the console with attracting non-nintendo fans to it because it's first party games were always tailored-made for kids and "everyone".

It's other mistakes are trying to be different for the sake of being different that doesn't bring in any real value to gaming, weird controller set ups (no standarized controller or button layout), tailoring 90% of it's games and adverts towards kids (it's not the 90's anymore).

They're doing the same damn things that did before.

I even doubt Destiny 2 will sell over 10 million, since the first Destiny only sold about 13 million copies.

Since Destiny was kind of a failure, a lot of people wouldn't want the second game, even if it's good. The same thing happened to Watch Dogs 2.

Also, nobody considers it to be the 2nd biggest franchise this gen, because it simply isn't.

By what definition was Destiny a failure?
