Wouldn't mind a Nintendo Land 2, first one was pretty good. Bonus points for remixing the final battle theme of Ocarina of Time before Smash Bros.
Add in minigames based on games like Star Fox, Kirby, maybe a Fire Emblem one and we good.

I'm more excited for Peach Beach Splash, ha, isn't the Switch one more of a dating sim? (though I can see why that would be more popular to some). |
@bolded words: Oh my goodness... *wipes my forehead*
Yes, i think it is. Hope it's just an unlockable minigame.
The Joycons were underutilized in 1-2 Switch. There's too many ideas that could have been forged into a great showcase of titles for the Switch. 1-2 Switch is an embarrassment to the potential of the console.
Firstly, there is no reason to sell the public on the idea of motion control. Wii did that perfectly well, everyone understands it and why/where it can be fun.
1, 2 switch is intended to be that game that demonstrates HD rumble and the improved motion. However, its not a pack-in and the game on its own doesn't have the appeal the fun looking wii sports did.
Frankly, Switch doesn't *need* that type of game anyways. Zelda is selling the system first and foremost, very well. Then over the remainder of the year we do get other broader audience games and very much likely the Fifa/Madden/COD types of games will be confirmed at E3 and launched in Fall as normal. This will round out sections of gaming segments needed to satisfy most anyone.

How are they really under utilized? 1,2 Switch is embarassing because it's stretching so hard to try and figure out new game mechnics for the same old motion controls.
That's what you get.
Swinging a controller around to simulate a tennis racket, or baseball, or sword, or even any other 10394938 different items you can come up with really isn't interesting to people anymore. Everyone's seen that and done that.

Exactly ... maybe, just maybe the take away should be Nintendo doesn't need gimmicks to sell hardware.
Switch is doing just fine with Zelda, if you replaced 1,2 Switch with like a Wave Race game or something, the system would be selling just as well.
Making a system that appeals to core gamers can work too and because the system is a hybrid device it doesn't have to worry that it's aiming at a similar audience that the PS4/XB1 would because it's functionally so different.
Who knew that having a system that doesn't look like a child's toy, has good marketing towards adults, and a great killer app launch title for real gamers could drive hardware sales, even a Nintendo system.
This also shows IMO that some of their past hardware failures are largely due to really out of touch design mentalities. If the GameCube didn't look like a fucking Fisher Price toy, played DVDs, and launched with a Zelda game that didn't have a baby Link in it .... how well could it have done? Probably way better. First impressions mean a lot. Once it got labelled "kiddie console" it was never able to shake that stigma.

They're not willing to pay anything for games anymore, you can thank Apple and Google for that, they have totally warped the value of video games in the minds of that audience completely (just as MP3 downloading completely has destroyed the traditional music sales market ... a lot of people are simply unwilling to pay for music now by the album). 1,2 Switch was just a little experiment by Nintendo IMO. If it worked out fine, if it didn't then at least they suckered a few people into paying $50 for it, which would more than cover it's dev costs. |
If they're gone why did Nintendo have the 'wii wheels' available since launch for Mario Kart? Why make 1, 2 Switch? Why have motion control for Zelda? Have you seen anyone speak about ARMS without mentioning Wii Sports Boxing? All of a sudden motion control is acceptable if it's motion plus levels of accuracy, something Wii owners were saying back in 2010.
The idea that people are getting their Wii Sports fix from a smartphone game is a joke. It's the hardcore PSP owners who fucked off to smartphones not Nintendo gamers. 'Da cazualz' aren't as dumb as you think, they're the ones who refuse to spend cash on the exact same shit they played last year. They demand new experiences. Wii Fit and Pokemon Go with their weight-loss achievements are less 'cazualz' than the clowns who buy anything from Telltale games. At least Wii Sports/Fit are actual games and not 'play our shitty D-movie story' games.
1,2 switch is Wii Play. Ie, this is a taster of what you can expect from future games. Wii Play was sold too cheap last time and Nintendo aren't going to make that mistake again. Nintendo has correctly read the stupid, vocal hardcorez and Nintendo know that they wont get away with releasing 'da cazualz' games without something for the core lest they start crying.
It isn't just Nintendo. MS would have loved to repeat Kinect and Sony's Move titles did respectable numbers. If you think Nintendo aren't going to try and get EVERYONE gaming again then I don't know what to say to you.
edit: dumb cazualz won't pay $10 for 2D Mario???? You'll see how much 'da cazualz' will pay for 2d mario when the next game rakes in a billion dollars revenue instead of the paltry 50m the smartphone ripoff did.
Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)
Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!
Yes, please!
4 players minigames, looking at screen. not like 1-2-switch.

I think Nintendo has looked at the Wii and figured what went wrong in the long run. One problem that materialized was that third parties were morons and kept feeding themselves with the perception that there's no demand for "real" games despite evidence to the contrary. So it's likely that Nintendo will try to circumvent the stupid by letting other games lead the way in year 1 and by the time that party games light up the sales charts, third parties will already be well underway in making proper games and not turn back when they've already found something that sells. |
Yup, just waiting for all these mini-games that are going to sell tens of millions of copies. Any day. Annnnnnny day. Oh wait and 1,2 Switch doesn't count.
Does Nintendo even know what this audience wants anymore? What was their last big hit with this crowd? Wii Fit Plus .... in 2009. That's how many years ago now? I think Britney Spears had a hit single in 2009 too.
What exactly have Nintendo figured out with regards to this audience? Doesn't seem like anything to me.
Zelda is what's selling this thing, that and the fact that it doesn't look like or is marketed like a child's toy. Those are the two most important things about the system. If 1,2 Switch was the lead software title or even Wii Sports 3, I gauruntee this thing would be sitting on storeshelves collecting a bunch of dust just like the 3DS did with Nintendogs + cats.
