Forums - Sony Discussion - Will PS4 sell 2 million in Japan this year?

Will it?

Yes 46 52.27%

No 42 47.73%

For Q1 2017, PS4 has been considerably up YoY in Japan, already selling over 500K. If this kind of pace can continue, then 2 million is not unrealistic. With the Switch now stealing some of the PS4's thunder and a rough Q2 release schedule however, the PS4 may lose the momentum it's taken so much to achieve. So then, fellow VGChartzers, it's prediction time. Will the PS4 break 2 million in Japan, something the PS3 was never able to do? Or is this hurdle simply too high?

Around the Network

Yes, but barely. Probably 2.05-2.10 million.

Nahh.

How much did it sell last year? That was when the momentum really started to pick up

well it should be up over the summer simply for DQ11

but it will need something in the winter, and i don't think it has anything big enough

Around the Network

I can see it happening, considering it already sold 500k.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

It probably depends on how well DQ11 does.

If the PS3 never managed it then I can't really see the PS4 doing it. But PS3 never had DQ so...

The PS3 is a really bad basis to draw your conclusions though. The PS3 was a very expensive console compared to the PS4.

Having said that, I don't think it will hit 2M either. Should get to around 1.6M though.

Maybe GTS?

not gonna happen.
We have to deal with it - Japan is mobile land now.

Maybe... if it does over 2m it wont be by much though.
