So as I'm sure all of you are aware, games are more often than not, scored on a scale of 1-10... of course there's 1-5 and letter grading systems too, but for now let's stick to 1-10...
What would you consider to be the score of an average game, by this I mean a game that isn't amazing, but isn't bad either, you'll get some enjoyment out of it, but it's not as fun as other games in the same genre or whatever...
For me, I see a 5/10 as an average game, but I see at times people get upset if a game gets a 6/10, or even a 7/10, saying it's a good game and deserves higher... which in my opinion IS higher than average, which would put it in the "good game" region. Then you have your "amazing game" which is 8/10 or 9/10, and finally "masterpiece" which is 10/10... it's not the best way to look at games, but generally if a game is getting the same numbers across the board, it must fit into one of these categories. Of course, this will vary per person, which is why I've made this thread...
What do you class as an average game score? If you'd like to expand, what would you consider the highest threshold for a bad game, or the lowest for a good game?

The problem with your train of thinking is that it's a review score, not a percentile. So an average game would be in the 50th percentile or a 5/10. But reviews are not percentile scores. They are an evaluation. If a perfect game is 10/10, average games are not 50% of a perfect game. Most games are at least somewhat entertaining experiences. Scores below 50% should indicate that the developers did more wrong than right with a game.
So, if a 1/10 would be something like "The Letter" on Wii U with virtually no effort, incomplete, poor graphics, etc, and a 10/10 is Breath of the Wild with excellent visuals, sound, content, gameplay, most games would be much closer to Breath than letter. So if I were evaluating a typical average release these days - like say the latest Assassin's Creed that comes along - I would say it has very good graphics, sound, content, etc. The gameplay may not be as engrossing as Zelda, and it may not have the uniqueness of the experience, but it would still be a well produced product. It does more things well than not. As such, its score should exceed 50%. As an average, typcial "good" game that comes out each year, it probably scores around 7.5/10.
