They need to keep momentum.And they simply cant afford to make a mistake, to wait for the Switch to "die down" for it to start making deals and bundles and good offers.Nintendo needs to be pro-active, and they know it.Hopefully this bundle is true and comes at a good price.

True though I think they can atleast afford to wait until the system is no longer sold out.

True though I think they can atleast afford to wait until the system is no longer sold out.

All this stuff was likely planned out weeks before launch. 

They had the option of waiting for Mario Kart in April or launching in March with just one SKU (the base unit) and selling through the first 2 mill on a "soft launch" type scenario and they picked that. 

But likely two SKUs was supposed to be the standard anyway. $300 - Base Unit, $350 - Bundled w/game. Same pricing tier as Wii U. Seems Nintendo-ey enough. 

May also explain some stock issues too, they likely have these Mario Kart bundles sitting in a warehouse but have to wait until late April to ship them out. 

These things are all planned out months in advance, you don't just overnight say "hey lets have a bundle for this" and slap it together over a week.

Mario Kart 8D adverts are already airing in the UK despite being two weeks before it releases so a bundle wouldn't surprise me.

has this been confirmed by anything other than the picture? because the picture's fake af, why are there neon joycons on the side of a grey joycon set, not to mention they've just copied and pasted a picture of the MK8 box art, WITH THE BOX you can see the white borders of it going past the actual edge of the switch box lol

So it was likely supposed to be $299.99 base version/$349.99 bundle w/Mario Kart (basically same pricing as the Wii U).

It's also likely a fat profit maker for Nintendo as Mario Kart 8 is effectively a game that Nintendo re-couped all development costs on ages ago, so they're just basically taking an old game they already made money off of, installing into the Switch's on-board flash memory and charging $50 more for it. It's like $50 straight up profit for them. It's actual pretty brilliant, profit wise. 

I thought they said it was a physical copy ... if it is physical at least nay sayers can't bitch about 25% of the memory being eaten up by the bundled game ( I thought MK8 was around 8 GB )

On the Nintendo Russia store it was listed with a more official-looking picture. I posted it somewhere in the thread.

But well, thought it'd be confirmed in the Direct, who knows now
