Forums - Politics - Trump to nominate pro-immigration free-trading globalist as CEA chair

He'll probably make friends with all of the Goldman Sachs executives in the cabinet. So cute how people actually believed what he said.

And basically before the election it was the most important thing if you elect Clinton or Trump, now it shows practically no difference. Be it labour policy, immigration, Syria ... the differences evaporate in weeks.

He's still cool in a vacuum. I've never seen this obscene amount of hypocrisy in one hour. The same people who warned us how we shouldn't hand the "nuclear code" to "someone like Trump" is now giving him a standing ovation for starting another war

Yeah, I get the feeling Trump asked his aides how he get more popular with the media and the aides pointed at Dubya. The world was seemingly at the end as he was elected, but he only needs to bomb the fuck out of another country and is applauded. I currently hate humanity as a whole.

the upside of not being in political waters too much is that you're not dug into either side as much.  Trump hasn't taken advantage of that but coming in with a fresh slate and saying "I don't care what party you're in I'll take your input and would love your support" could go a long way towards getting rid of this political quagmire.  Also Democrats took this stance that they would oppose anything he does after a couple weeks like with a supreme court nominee who is rated near perfect by the bar association.  There is not reason they should have had to change the rules to get him through, but the dems responded to Trump's antagonism with more antagonism.

Trump has not done that.  He has not tried to reach out to Democrats not even once during his Presidency nor has he even hinted that he is willing to work with them as long as the Republican party has majority.  He is just as partisan as the rest in Washington right now so nothing will change.  As for the Supreme Court nominee, that’s just pay back for the Republican doing the same thing when Obama chose his Justice.  Actually it’s so funny how bad the Republicans were on his nomination since the they guy he chose was pretty conservative.  It’s this kind of petty crap that things do not change and nothing gets done.  I do not see this changing because Trump has already shone in his personality to be just as petty.

judging by what you bolded I'm going to assume you misread that.  I was saying that the quoted part could go a long way if someone took that attitude.  I said Trump hasn't taken advantage of that fresh slate.

He never said immigrants are bad.  He said they need proper vetting and they need to come in legally.  Why do liberals always ignore the illegal part?  That's important

I'm not a damn liberal. I exist outside USA so  even my definitions of the terms vary. He is extremely anti-immigrant anyone with a non-brainwashed mind can see. His actions at the start show ho anti-immigrant he is. He wanted to ban all muslims and build a damn wall without any regard to nuances, humans, immigrants, the american people or reality

well a wall helps illegal immigration stop.  Gotta make immigration easier while keeping safe vetting and securing borders.

I like how Trump can literally do anything at this point and catch nothing but negative media.

"People are mad about my anti-immigration policies? Then hire one that's pro-immigration... What do you mean they're mad about that?"

The media needs to pick a side and stay on it.

Many people become illegal immigrants by overstaying their visas. A wall's not going to change that. Also, the border isn't entirely land, so if the US built a wall across the Rio Grande, they'd be giving the whole river to Mexico.

stopping some illegal immigration and one form of it is better than doing nothing.  Just because it doesn't stop 100% of illegal immigration doesn't mean it's not going to help with the problem.  It's a deterrent like a dog at your house or a fence around it or padlocks.  People can still get past those things but they usually don't try as much if you have them.

But how has illegal immigration negatively affected the country?

They drive wages down by undercutting wages that they'll take.  The minimum wage is already too low and now companies have an option that's even cheaper?
