So, you're underwhelmed by one, if not thee, most impressive graphical games of this gen, including PC? O ... K. Buy a Scorpio.

I know; that's what I read, which is why I was surprised when I was underwhelmed. My friend, who has a PS4 as well, has watched me play Horizon several times, and he felt the same way I did about the graphics. I was wondering if it's just bc I so rarely play RPGs and so am unfairly comparing it to more linear games like Uncharted 4, but my buddy who watched me play Horizon played the witcher 3 on PS4.

So somehow I think it may be my tv and how it works with a 1080p hdmi? All I know is that when I've watched shows thru the apps on my tv (e.g. game of thrones and even The Office on Netflix), I'm continuously impressed with how good it looks (jaw dropping at times in GoT)--even tho neither are streamed in 4K. So I have confidence the Pro will make the difference!

As for Scorpio, I have zero interest. I've been a playstation guy since ps1 bc they have the best exclusives imo, and now more than ever with Horizon, Uncharted TLL, Spider-Man, TLoU 2, Death Stranding, God of War, Detroit, Nex Machina, Pyre, the next SP game, and maybe even Dreams and VR. I bought an XBO on Black Friday for the UHD bluray (primarily), Ori, and cuphead. It's still sitting unopened in the box.

If you got an 11k bonus then what are you waiting for d:

Horizon doesn't just look stunning for an open world RPG, it looks stunning period and I don't normally go out of my way to say that. If it's not good looking to you then idk what to tell ya >_>

I got mine for $250 new..... Without having to trade anything in 😏

Jaaaaa? Care to elaborate? I'm keeping my original PS4. No trade ins. I'll have set games I'll play on it, and set games I'll play on the Pro.

My manager had his birthday and got a ps4 pro from one family member and an xb1s from another. He gave me the Pro cheap cuz he knows I play games a lot & he wanted a UHD player

Noice!

I have a Pro and standard, and I use the Pro with a 1080p display. I think the difference is noticeable, but I think you really need 4k and HDR screen to make the best use of Pro benfits on visual side. However, for me the Pro really shines on solid framerates and frame pacing. it is overall just much more fluent, and I see the biggest benefits there, and I definitively recommend it. And also it is so much more silent than original  (dont know about slim)

Now that I have had the opportunity to play various frameratestrategies in games like Tomb raider, it is my conclusion that human eye is really sensitive to variations so playing at higher than 30 hz but unlocked is not as smooth as locked 30 Hz.

My TV has about 36ms input lag (measured with Leo Bodnar device), and I am not moving to 4k before the input lags come down. I definitively want to have sub 30ms, preferably sub 20ms in my next tv.

So my recommendation is tha Pro is good, but if you want 4k and HDR, make sure you have buy low input lag tv because that is most important in action games. And always hook up directly PS4 to TV. I had an amp in between but after Leo Bodnar device test, I switched to direct, and actually I noticed improvement in Destiny.

I have a pro and a HDR 4k tv and replayed R&C and Uncharted 4. I think the Pro offers way sharper images makes less noise than OG PS4 and HDR is great. Totally worth it in my opinion. Horizon really shines with HDR on in 2160p checkerboard. Without those features you are missing out on horizon.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Sorry, but even on a badly set up TV you couldn't be underwhelmed by this:

But see, those pictures--especially the first and last--look way better/smoother than Horizon has ever looked on my tv. And I'm viewing them on my 1.5yr old iPhone 6S. Horizon on my tv just has a grainy appearance. It's gorgeous artistically, aesthetically, stylistically, but the graphics themselves are just not smooth. Fortunately, graphics aren't everything, bc I'm freakin loving the game otherwise.

Then you've got your TV set up wrong. Try putting it in PC mode if it has one.

The PS5 Exists.

Isn't there enough information out there to answer your question.

1. You'll get a sharper picture on 4K TVs.
2. 1080p TVs can also benefit from higher resolutions and less jaggies.
3. Some games will have improved graphics (albeit relatively minor).
4. Old games not designed for Pro can also run better.

These are essentially the only things you need to consider. Is that worth $399 to you? If a price cut happens this year it'll probably be $50.

Lastly, if you aren't very impressed with PS4 graphics, don't expect PS4 Pro to be a game changer.

Well, as you can see from the comments in this thread, the opinions on the PS4 pro vary considerably. That's why I made the thread; I've heard very polarizing sentiments on PS4 pro, and I want to get as many opinions as possible before deciding whether or not to purchase it. I just got a $11K quarterly bonus, so I feel better, financially, about the purchase, but I still have no interest in wasting money on something that wouldn't be a truly significant upgrade.

Well since money isn't the issue per se.

If PS4 is your primary console, if you spend a lot of time with it, and it appears to offer the best performance for the most part, I think its worth getting.

I personally won't buy a PS4 Pro anytime soon because I just use PS4 for a few exclusives and they already look good on my standard PS4. Scropio has my attention though because its a massive upgrade, even for old content.

A few games I have on the Pro have optional 4K mode, optional HDR, etc. Or you can just play them in 1080p. Even then, I have a hard time deciding if the improvement is really that great.

So I got a PS4 Pro! I got the Destiny 2 LE console for $350 on Black Friday. So I just finally got to unbox it, and I had a question about the data transfer process.

I have PT on my OG PS4, and I was worried originally about losing this in the transfer process, but D21Lewis told me a long time ago the right option for transferring your data so I could keep PT on my Pro. I don’t quite remember now, and I can’t find his post anywhere! :/

Anyone have any knowledge on this?

Officially down to 350,- in the U.S. for the next week!
