How is that "well within their right" ... lol? That would be applicable in situations where religion is part of the business, maybe, but that's an odd analogy. And JonTron is not going to jail. He's losing some silly Youtube endorsement or whatever the fuck is so life altering. Madonna's music label is welcome to drop her if they want on the basis of her comments, that's their choice. |
Well within their right as in the law allows them to do that. And it's a great analogy - goes on to show that companies' choice to drop someone isn't always the right thing.
Side note - we know the left-leaning media backs Madonna so there'd be no repercussion to her actions. Funny how that works.

Again - a different scenario. A restaurant isn't a platform for you to express your religious opinions and that's on top of that employee being unamicable. What that person says on social media is not my problem though. Slander isn't just speech - it targets a particular. Like how Colin Moriarty was slandered by the media. Get this right - people should be able to say what they feel as long as they don't promote bodily harm or don't mischaracterise or attack individuals baselessly. |
Kinda like being a small potatoes "Youtube personality" isn't the correct platform to express your white supremasist opinions? Where is social media suddenly sacrosant? Even so, if you had an employee who was posting support for ISIS on social media, you'd be OK with that as an employer because "well ... it's social media, guess we just have to tolerate it because it's on Twitter"?

Fine, fine. I'll stop.
Not surprised, and I certainly won't be shedding any tears for Jontron.
Bet with Adamblaziken:
I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
We celebrate diversity. Well...unless that is diversity of opinion. That's ok. I'll not be purchasing this game.

I'd argue that saying we don't celebrate diversity of opinion because we don't abide racists is like saying I don't celebrate diversity in my diet because I don't eat literal shit.
...
I don't blame Playtonic for their decision, bad press is just a headache that people really don't wanna deal with when possible.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Please. The left throws out the word racist so much it means absolutely nothing anymore. It's how they even go into arguments anymore, since they can't defend their positions. So, just because someone who wants borders for their country to block out illegal immigrants, while we still allow legal ones in, is not a racist. But, it doesn't matter. They want to kowtow to a few lefties whining about his comments, I'll speak with my wallet and not buy their game.
