Forums - Sony - Opinion: With PSNow, the PS4 seems like a waste of money

Quick question: Is the $100/year offer still available?

In Canada, I was about to purchase it a couple weeks ago but it wasn't available anymore.

Max I can buy is 3 months at $45. At that price, I don't think it's worth it.

I think you guys are looking at it awkwardly. As a company Sony needs to keep the consumer happy since they have competition. There is no way they are changing the price and extra hundred a year. They will add more games otherwise people will not come or will not stay. No need to go on Twitter and complain (Why do that?), there is no way you'd have time to play all the AAA games on there. I agree there are games you really can't wait for, but for me those are games like GTA, Metal Gear Solid, South Park, and various other 3rd party games. From the looks of it I would assume Horizon will be a part of the PS4 games added because it is exclusive. Most of the exclusive games make it to the Now.

On a side note, it does look like the $100 is gone, which is depressing. I don't blame anyone for not jumping aboard for a $180 a year when it was $80 cheaper 3 months ago. Still I think that's a good deal if you are not currently out buying $60 dollar games.

Oh lawdy, sums up my feelings.

I think PS Now is neat. A good way to play some notable games, but the selection of games is very limited and streaming has problems like lag, degraded picture quality, etc.

PSnow is an awful service IMO. I have 100 up/down and It lags all the damn time. I heard the comment "used wired" but really? The average person doesn't use a wired connection...

Everything runs on their servers, the problem would be internet speeds. Some smartTV's used to use PSNow. I have tried PSNow at a friends that had crappy internet and there were some problems playing RE5 co-op. Which I would completely understand for Fighting Games, but I don't play Fighting Games competitively (From my stance I saw no issue with Mortal Kombat). I haven't noticed any games leaving PSNow, but there are a lot of Ubisoft titles and 3rd party and I'm sure they could go. Just like Netflix I assume some leave and some stay with exclusive Sony titles (Like Netflix originals) staying. I haven't experienced any game being down and all the saves are made in the cloud so my data hasn't been lost.

On a side note you can earn trophies with this system. So I see trophy enthusiasts liking this model. They also have other models which are more expensive and this is definitely seen as the best deal. From where I stand I can already tell the current selection is worth my $100. If they add more it only adds up the value.

Games I did not get a chance to play that are on PSNow:

God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War: Ascension, Asura's Wrath, Assassins Creed III, Batman: Origins, Beyond Two Souls, Dark Souls II, Darksides I and II, Dead or Alive 5, Devil May Cry 4, Enslaved, F.E.A.R., Infamous 2, ICO, Injustice, Motorstorm Apocolypse, Mortal Kombat Komplete, Ni No Kuni, Ninja Gaiden 2, tons of Ratchet and Clanks, Red Dead Redemption (Just love this one), Saints Row 2&3&4, Sly Cooper Thieves in Time, and Uncharted 3.

Excluded Red Dead these are all games I have never played. If I wanted to pay for them individually it would be over $500. Just to note there is no way I can play all of these games in a year and finish them.

Wait but NONE of those games are PS4 games those are all PS3 and before games games. So I would have to wait until the PS5 comes out just to play the PS4 games? That would suck lol. All great games to play for those who never owned a PS3 or before but to say it makes the PS4 seem like a waste of money is a bit of a stretch.

But good luck on your back log of games! Some really good ones to play there!

Besides, for me, buying a PS3 and playing the games is still a better (and cheaper) option than PS Now.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

Bruh I can't even watch Twitch on medium quality without it buffering how am I supposed to stream games XD
But naw I doubt they'll put any ps4 games on it that aren't already 2 years old. And you can get most of those games on Amazon for 20 or under.
