StarDoor said: I agree. The Switch has really weak hardware. That's why it'll fail, just like the 3DS did with its 240p screen and sub-PS2 power. Wait, the 3DS isn't a failure? It's already sold over 65 million units? Oh. Well, people aren't going to put up with such weak hardware again. I mean, seriously, why does Nintendo always use hardware that's five+ years behind? Wait, the Switch is a full generation ahead of the PS Vita, making it by far the most powerful handheld ever released? Oh. Yeah, your argument here is terrible. |
Yes, it is powerful for a portable, but the price is too much, and casuals with powerful smart phones have little need for Switch. The non-Nintendo core gamers will want PS4pro/Scorpio power. The pro could come down to $300-$350 with a game by year's end. That looks much better than $440 for a weak Switch with one game and a pro controller.
|
So you think the Pro is going to do so badly that Sony will have to cut its price by $100 to $150? It's at $400 without a game right now. And do you think that the Switch won't fall in price or have a game bundled by this year's end?
By the way, the Pro Controller is $70, not $80. It's also unnecessary, since the Switch comes with a full controller out of the box. This is like saying the PS4 Pro right now is really $520, because you need to buy a game and an extra controller for it.

What???
That is as ridiculous as the people who use the terms "fake news" or "alternative facts".
It's not an alternative. Many people are claiming this thing will flop easily. The thread will provide no useful discussion about the switch.

Let's continue this discussion in a year. I think you will see that I have valid points then. The usefulness, well possible usefulness, of this post is that it could help convince ppl to not throw away hard earned money for something that is likely to be a short lived fad.
|
How is this a short-lived fad? Nintendo is going to exclusively support the Switch with first-party software for the next five years. You literally will not be able to play big Nintendo titles anywhere else. And if you're talking about the hardware itself, the concept of switching between a home console and a handheld is probably the best innovation Nintendo has ever done with a system based on the utility alone.

Ppl think I'm overdoing it now, but many of you may wish you'd listened to my side of this Switch debate when so much money has been spent and so little satisfaction has been had. I could be wrong, but I am passionate about this. Nintendo did ppl wrong with Wii U.

...What kind of arrogance does it take for someone to tell people that they aren't satisfied with their console? I, like many other people whose experiences you can read on this site, have already gotten over a hundred hours of fun playing Zelda on the Switch. Zelda alone has already given the Switch a better launch lineup than the Wii U and 3DS combined, and the games coming out this year are incredibly promising. This isn't even about potential sales: There is no chance in hell that Nintendo fans are going to be disappointed with the Switch. Zelda is one of the best games Nintendo has ever made (possibly THE best,) and we're also getting 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Splatoon, and Xenoblade in the same year.
