My wife bought it last weekend but other than passing glances while she plays it I haven't touched it myself, and likely won't.

I'm nowhere in it. Didn't buy.

Why? Are you not a Zelda fan?

*edit* Yeah, and I'll eventually borrow my brothers copy and play it.

I stayed around Rito village last night to do some quests there, 2 more fun shrine quests and a snow Talos to defeat. These people don't realize how much bomb arrows cost, 100 rupee reward.... So I almost finished the Hebra mountains region yet there's still a legend of a hidden sword I have no clue where to go looking for and a hidden shrine that shows up on my locator yet is nowhere to be found. This game is awesome, the side quests have so much charm.

So I was busy with midterms for a while, but got to play for a few hours yesterday and now I am on break.

I halted my attempts to kill the final boss in the gerudo dungeon to make myself stronger. I now have eight hearts and three stamina upgrades, but that doesn't matter because of a quest I found.

I discovered what happens at the peak of Lanyru Mountain per your tips, and wow that was awesome indeed.

Now I am exploring Akalla and trying to do the side quests for Robbie.

I think I'm 16 shrines in... Unlocked Great Plateau, Central Hyrule, West and East Necluda, Lanayru so 5 regions... So much to do. I'm now at Zora's Domain and preparing to enter Vah Ruta Divine Beast.

Damn... I fought my first Lynel at Mount Lanayru. Those bastards are hard as fuck if you don't master Flurry Rush.

So, after 80 shrines, about a hundred Kolog seeds, all the map unlocked, finding some really cool weapons and references to older Zeldas, Ganon is down. What a phenomenal ride. And I feel it's just the beginning. When I beat it my thoughts were: "That was cool, now, what's next?". Awesome feeling.

How does the end work? Do you just reload from most recent save or does it let you jump in after his demise?

Picked up the Ice and Electric rods.

Picked up the Ice and Electric rods.

I got a blizzard rod that has extra durability i am excited about. Had a meteor rod, not sure if I still have it. No basic rods, weird.  Well had one.

Kid in Hateno village wants me to show him a fire rod. Had been a while since got that quest, so I had thought he wanted to see an ice rod so found me a wizard shooting ice and killed him for it. Spent another 5 hours just exploring and getting annoyed with my ice rod sitting in my inventory, sicne it took up space and I had a better blizzard rod anyway, so whnever found new weapon I wanted I had to drop something decent while keeping ice rod.  So finally headed back to talk to kid. He tells me he wants fire rod. I threw that damn ice rod right into his face.

Still have no fire rod.

Freezing enemies and landing a heavy attack against strong enemies is a strategy that works wells.

I like how the items and weapons in the game both classic and new Zelda are found in a natural manner, whenever I see a new enemylike the Wizzrobes the first thing that comes to mind is what gear are they carrying.

The first thing after leaving the plateau was unlocking the southern half of the map and doing every shrine I could see on the way. Then I followed the suggestion in one of the stables to enter Hyrule castle early and while searching for the hidden entrance, I found a way to spend all my Korok seeds in the north. After entering Hyrule castle up to the first gate, I visited the Zoras right before entering the first two villages. Yesterday I offered two large scales and did the major test of strengh shrine, which was fun. I also collected the Zora and Climbing armor sets and got killed by a Lynel.

So far I have the all chests found map icon on all my 30+ shrines but one which may be a bug in the game. Playtime must be around 50 hours, next session will be 1st dungeon or continuing with the story.
