This is what happens when Platinum Games isnt spread thin and can focus on the game they need to make without insane publishers rushing them. I expect a high 80's metascore. Respect for the booty too. If we cant have bayonetta at least we've got something new.

Damn straight they are finally delivering their promised greatness. It only took them four years but still.

Not really a fair comparison. The two games are trying to do different things, so any faults in Uncharted 4 are kinda based on what the expectations of a cinematic action-adventure title should be and how it holds up against previous titles. Same with Nier: A, it will be judged on how well it stacks up to the standards of what makes a good action RPG, does it bring anything new, is there actual meat to the story, etc etc.

All it points out to is that you've already pass judgment on a game as a whole despite only playing the demo. Game could be the greatest thing you've played in the last decade but you've already conditioned yourself not to like it more than, let's say, Uncharted 4.

I agree. At least in my eyes, it did not do anything wrong, with only having relatively weak/underdeveloped villains (not uncommon in the Uncharted franchise.) But still, it's just different games in different genres. Their scores reflect the improvements and their contributions to the genre. Uncharted 4 was fantastic, GOTY for me, but it was just another uncharted title. Nier looks to shake things up a bit, but I don't think that 94 will stay there for long.

Platinum games is the last remnant of Japanese style arcade hack n slash gaming. Arcade style gaming in general. After bayonetta,  every publisher wanted to work with them and made them pump out crap games. It seems only Japanese companies understand them because Microsoft and activision are now the dark spots in their resume. No patience.
