Forums - Gaming - The Double Standard

Ok, I don't want this to be a controversial thread or a thread to bully people, I just wanna give you a thought.

Yesterday the Nintendo Switch was reviewed, some good reviews, a lot of mixed reviews and some negative reviews. Doubters were saying "yeah accept the fact fanboys, the switch is not that good" while fans were saying "Yeah these reviews are not good and I don't trust this"

Today Breath of the wild was reviewed, 98 meta score and tons of 10/10. Now, doubters  are saying "yeah this game doesn't deserve this scores, the media is biased" while fans are saying "fuck yeah best game ever made"

The media can't be biased towards something, and the next day biased towards to other side. It's time to use critical thinking and say "hey, maybe different reviewers review different things and sometimes I don't agree but that doesn't mean that an entire editorial is full of haters or biased people"

Same can be said about the comments from Nintendo die-hards over the last two days but in reverse

All fanbases are biased and illogical, there are no exceptions.

Probably cause they are:

The funny thing is, people are also saying blah game is better even though they havnt even played Zelda. If they first played zelda and then they think blah game is still better, sure but without playing it is pretty lolz worthy...

Some people hate to think there's something out there that'sbetter than what they've invested in. They'll defend their choice tooth and nail.

The few who are fortunate enough to play everything realize there's pros and cons to everything and accept it.

Although the Switch will be a great console for me (it has everything I want from a gaming device), I understand that some reviewers don't like certain things about it.

I think that people who were mad because the Switch got some negative reviews, were exaggerating. But being mad because a game gets GOOD reviews is way worse. These are just people who can't accept that something they don't like gets highly appreciated by others.

I think that was onion's point - that people on both sides of the fence are only using "media bias" if it's convenient for them. I've literally seen posts by people who are shitting on IGN for having a negative bias against Nintendo for their Switch review, and then hours later, praising them for giving Zelda a 10/10. Onion is pointing out the hypocrisy in those people too.

I mean, it's clear which side Onion stands on, but I really think this was a very level headed post that was sent out to everyone, not just "Nintendo haters".

I thought you were talking about the double standards about the importance of technical issues in the reviews

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Switch will be a amazing portable and bad home console for me, zelda a very good game even if i doubt this hit 95+ in my hearth, but everyone is biased a way or a other because everyone life is different !

And i can't see why zelda who have some technical issue can get perfect score. but i think this about every single game, horizons too if human I.A have problem, this game can't have a 10/10 either.
