But there is still an option for people that want to own the games, buy the games.

This is merely an option and a damn good one. Especially if you recently bought a X1 and want access to many games. I imagine consoles will be bundled with access to this service for a short period of time.

Sure, not saying the other option isn't there. I am just highlighting I personally don't find this enticing, and pushing for a games as service future, while logical considering the rest of the entertainment sector does it too, is not something I wish for either.

Well realistically, MS would be lucky if this service gets a few million active subscribers.

Its not ideal for everyone but options aren't a bad thing.

I would think this marks the end of EA Access..... or maybe just a price cut.

Why?

EA Access is only $30 a year and offers content we likely won't see on this service. I'm an EA Access subscribers because its so damn cheap and has notable content, discounts, early access, trials, etc.

If the Xbox Pass does those things as well, I will certainly consider subscribing.

We will see what they offer but I may get this. I suspect a lot of new hardware bundles will come with 1-3 months subscription.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

I'm in the Preview Alpha build and this is free. Out of all the games in the preview, I have all of them except 4. 😏 This service really doesn't have any value for me. I buy games when they are cheap or on sale. I might cancel EA Access too. Would rather own at cheap than rent.

This would probably be good for people that live in their mother's basements.

How am I not in this?!?

Did you get an email invite or something? I'm an Xbox Insider and I'm pretty active. What gives?

Finally. Hope that Sony and Nintendo will push that too.

It is obviously a new strategy to get more XBLG memberships, since most games offered will be better with Online. But I would definitely pay a month for this to beat all the single player campaigns of all the games I like. MS and Sony's stuff are looking pretty good, Nintendo really needs to step up their game though.

Gross. Soon they'll be churning original streaming content only (plus shovelware) ala Netflix. Streaming has its upsides - as long as you have a large collection of physical media for when the internet goes out. Gaming and streaming, however, are a terrible fit. Just let me buy the old games for a few bucks a piece and call them mine forever.

I don't understand what nintendo is doing. They can easily make a Netflix-like subscription service where you pay a monthly fee to play loads of nes/snes games. It's a smart idea that would really attract people interested in their old games.

The current virtual console isn't bad, but I'm pretty sure most people would prefer paying $10 a month than $4 a game

that a pretty sweet deal for those who like xbox games. unfortunately none of the games on the platform interest me. would be awesome if sony and nintendo did this though.
