If anything, if this is within "common" class of items you can fish out of ocean, it inflates N64's popularity, right?
Does anybody believe a N64 stuck on ocean floor thru global apocalypse would still function and not be "junk"?
So what is offensive about being able to fish it up ? I believe it was a tribute that was misinterpreted by insecure fanboys.
That the dev was compelled to delete the item shows how high up that insecurity goes in Nintendo.

Umm, this seems overly sensitive. Nintendo 64, PS1, etc. are all potentially "junk from when humans inhabited the world".

Technically, in Nintendo-terms, it did well. With the obvious exception of the Wii, Nintendo home consoles have sold less and less each generation. The N64 did better than both the Gamecube and the Wii U, but was topped by the SNES, NES, and (dur) the Wii.

A dig at the VIrtual Boy would have been better..
