I mean, the market certainly exists on Nintendo platforms, but even Vita had more JRPGs than the 3DS. It's not like it's this huge untapped area. Fans of those games are predominantly on other platforms.

Vita has a lot of JRPGs that barely sell.

The 3DS has a lot of Japanese RPGs that sell a lot or at least decently: Dragon Quest, Yokai Watch, Pokémon, Kingdom Hearts, Mario & Luigi, Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter, Bravely Default, Paper Mario, etc.

And I'm curious to see how well Ever Oasis will do, it looks like a decent game, but might be overshadowed by the Switch.

Well ofc, the biggest IPs will obviously move the most units (a mainline Pokemon, DQ, YW, and Monster Hunter would sell a million on any platform, but maybe not YW anymore).

The 3DS has sold a ton of HW in Japan, so it's the default handheld for mainstream games. Doesn't make the point I was saying any less.

Also, to your comment on DQ11 on Switch. You don't actually think Switch is getting it day and date with PS4/3DS version, right?

Why wouldn't it? If anything, the PS4 version will come after the 3DS version. It's going to sell the least on the PS4 anyway.

I feel sorry for the devs of that game because, like you said, it's going to be completely overshadowed by the Switch, released to little fanfare and quickly forgotten; plus, It doesn't help that the game has a fairly generic artstyle and nothing really unique about its gameplay.  Despite all of that, I'm hoping it can sell enough that Nintendo sees the value in Grezzo making new IPs instead of being the Zelda spin-off devs.

That's certainly something. The only way the Switch version comes out with PS4/3DS is if they do mass delays to 2018. You realize we haven't seen a single bit of a Switch version and Square clearly can't do a good "fast port" looking at DQ Heroes.

We've barely seen any footage of any version. The last time they showed off footage of this game the Switch wasn't unveiled yet.

And lol if you think this game will come out in 2017.

Well, they've alreayd moved on to character introduction trailers, which is what JP PR companies do as it gets closer to release. They've showed a lot of gameplay at Jump Festa in December. I wouldn't be surprised if it slipped into early 2018, but the only reason they'd let it slip to late 2018 is to launch the Switch version with the other versions.

Maybe in Japan, but in the West it's definitely 2018, which should give the developers extra time to port.
