Yeah, I remember when that "demo" was revealed, a lot of people were saying there's no way final game will look like that - if for nothing else but for AA being way too good. Yet a lot of Nintendo loyals were claiming that Nintendo never downgrades, quite the opposite.
I also remember many games getting a lot of attention in gaming press for dowgrades - yet I can't remember BotW receiving the same treatment....so, all in all, go figure.

BOTW was downgraded? Holy shit why was there no uproar over that like other publishers get?

I'm not sure. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that the game was revealed almost 3 years before it's release. A lot of people feast on the eye candy the game has going for it and completely forget that it looked better back in 2014. Also I remember VERY VIVIDLY the game having some controversy a few months before release where the shadow quality went downhill majorly, and it was rumored to be because of some issue the Switch was having, but I can't find any evidence of this so I'll just assume it was my bad memory that made it up. Either way, the anti-aliasing, detail in the draw distance, foliage density, color depth, and shadows from the 2014 trailer are way worse, etc. That was entirely a scriped trailer I believe(maybe the grass part was real at one point), which is something that's important to note, but the reveal was very misleading when the gameplay never came close to matching it. I'm not going to say it's a bad looking game, it looks very good.
Anyways I came back here to say I'm happy to announce that I can play Hellblade at max settings at 64-68fps consistently, except for a few dips during in game cutscenes, on a 970! Very exciting. The game runs beautifully and so far I like it, though the puzzles are a bit meh.
