I would classify the console as a success already. 28m in 3 years is nothing to laugh at. Xbox One isn't failing, but the PS4's insane sales numbers make it look like Xbox One is failing. X1 is selling slighty better than 360 in the first three years of each console's lifespan.
Bet with Intrinsic:
The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.
Somewhere between N64 and SNES seems good. At current rate of the Home Console market though, one would probably want it to sell more. MS sounds ready to give up on HW, and just focus on services.
28 mil prolly means they are already making money, so I'd say they are already there.

Scorpio is coming this year, tablets are apparently doing well, Surface phones, and Hololens. At the very least its evident MS still has an interest in hardware.
MS devices also help push MS services. I don't think MS wants to exist solely as a service and software provider so they keep doing hardware.

let's see.... what did microsoft want to achieve with it? They wanted to have a xbox one with kinect in every house! did they achieve that? fuck no.

I'd say probably around 40+ mil but a figure of this range can potentially be more profitable than say the old N64 days when game software was the only money maker (in addition to consoles itself) because of all the media content (movies, dlc and music) and other transactions that can bring in more money online.

I keep hearing the 3DS bombed. So I guess more than that at least.
