Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo - Games developed for PC will take about a year to port to Switch

Relax people, he's just factoring in the enthusiasm of the developers to port to Switch.

That...sounds insanely long. I hope he's somehow mistaken, 'cause damn!

"Yasuda was in attendance at Nintendo’s Corporate Management Policy Briefing, and relayed a comment from Shigeru Miyamoto. Miyamoto said that games developed with PC as a base can be ported to Switch in about a year. The report also adds that the console was revealed to third-parties last summer. It’s thought that we could therefore see major multiplatform titles starting from the fall season."

i guess we can expect more of the AAA games to be announced for Fall considering there reveal date to the companies and how long it will take to port.

That's the reason why we need more exclusive games make from scratch for it

1 entire year to make a port !!?
1 fuc#@#$@ year of work just to make a port! This can't be true, this needs to be a problem of translation, otherwise Nity third party support will be just abysmal. 1 year for a port is just too much time, too expensive, this just can't be true.

Why? Do you happen to know how long ports usually take?

I imagine this would depend on the game.

6 months would be a good time. A year is pretty long.

I doubt that the port of Stardew Valley took one year.

Which games are created using PC as base though? I think he maybe stating this as a worse case scenario. Seems like most 3rd party games are created with the PS4 and XbOne in mind first and then ported to PC. Just because a platform maybe easy to develop for, things still need to be optimized for the Switch!

I don't believe this, probably a lost in translation stuff and the usuals are already taking profit of that to keep their gloom and doom narrative up, it simply doesn't make sense that 1 year is the average when the console is not using strange stuff in its architecture like the cell, maybe a game like The Witcher would take 1 year but not the average.

Typical Miyamoto comment.
