Forums - Nintendo - The next Donkey Kong Country game needs to be for everyone, not expert level players.

I beat it with 100% completion, does this make me a god gamer

You did it all? Beat Hard Mode and all the Time Trials?

Why did Tropical Freeze have a hard mode but no easy mode? Does Nintendo think all of us are expert players? Who designed this game? If I gave this game to my nephew, he's NOT going to enjoy this. Poor kid will probably cry his eyes out. If I gave my nephew a Kirby game then he'd enjoy it!

Then buy your cousin a Kirby game instead.  Not every game has to be for everyone. /topic

The SNES trilogy were far easier, DKC is one of the easiest games I've ever played so you might prefer that one. I don't see the harm of adding an easy or invincible mode but I'd prefer them to keep the harder modes too.

In my opinion DKC TF and Returns play quite differently to the SNES games, they're both good but the SNES trilogy were so much better balanced in difficulty, had much better controls and ultimately just more fun to play. I'd love to see the series return to the SNES gameplay but I kind of enjoy the new style too.

The game alone is not crazy hard, but to 100% it without help through a guide or in-game assistance, that's a challenge.
now in tropical freeze, those bonus stages were bananas! great time though!

I see what you did there!

So you are criticising a game you haven't played and you never ever intend to play... I don't understand what's the point of this thread, you don't know what it's about. Tropical Freeze is amazing, it's about skills. It's not just about losing life after life until you make it. It's about improving your skills, your precision. When you lose a life in that game, it's only your fault, you were not up to it, so you have to get better. It's motivating, really. You should play the game and see for yourself. The game sold decently, specially when you consider it's on a system that sold 14 million units. It's 1 game every ten consoles, that's quite good.
Please Nintendo never ever change the essence of your games just to appeal to a kid audience. Remember You still have us old backers, enjoying good old stuff.

Honestly I'd rather have the next Donkey Kong game be 3D instead (Same thing with Kirby, actually), but that's another point entirely. Never played the SNES DKC games, but I tried both Returns and Tropical Freeze and didn't enjoy them even though I really wanted to, seeing as everyone keeps talking about how good they are. The difficulty really wasn't the issue, but those games got really boring to me after playing 2-3 levels in a row and I still don't get why, maybe the levels felt too long to me or something, I think I'll never know really.

Quite literally =P

Look, I get being inclusive and welcoming to new gamers and I'd have nothing against an optional easy mode in DK.
Just, please don't mess with the standard mode.

Look, I'm not a very good gamer. I spent lots of time on DK TP because I'm not an 'expert' gamer. Some of the challenge stages must have taken me over 40 tries to complete. But the game never, not once felt unfair to me. Every single time I died, I knew it was on me, because of how tight and responsive and fast the controls are. DK is not an easy game but it's always fair and I love that kind of game design.

NSBU just pisses me off with how slow and slippery Mario is. I'm not sure why they made his walk unbearably slow compared to the retro 2D games, but it's annoying as fuck. You basically have to to have the run button on lock to get anywhere and the fact that they keep it as a face button and give you no option to remap it is annoying as well. I keep wrestling with the conrols on that one and it's just not fun. Sorry, NSBU rant over./
