Sooooo everyone is hyping up Xenoblade 2 soo much and it feels like I'm missing out big time on the excitment.  I've always been interested in the series but failed to actually get a Xenoblade game. I've had my eyes on the 1st Xenoblade Chronicles game, XCX and the new 3ds version. BUT NOW the Xenoblade 2 is catching mine too.

Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii: I don't think I'll be getting this one since its expensive AND I play my PS4 so much (Wii U is pretty much dead rn, only play for Splatoon). And I don't want to play with the Wiimote and nunchuck. (I know it doesnt have motion controls)

Xenoblad Chronicles X: Again same story but with another problem. I play my PS4 too much AND it's too big. I don't think I can afford all that time on the Wii U. and this game I'm LEAST interested in. I was going to get this game last year but my bus NEVER showed up. So I went home and never attempted to go pick this game up. Not interested in this game anymore. I would if there was a remaster for the Switch but we got a sequel instead, which was unexpecting.

Xenoblade Chronicles new 3DS: This is the version I want to pick up. I don't mind the graphics, yeah its not as good as the Wii graphics but on a screen this small, who cares, it won't look as bad. I want my new 3DS to go out with a bang so why not the port version of the Nintendo Wii's best game?  This is the version I'm likely on getting. Its the cheapest, portable and I want something to play on my new 3DS.

What do you think?

You can download the original Xenoblade on the Wii U eshop for $20, which should be cheaper than the Nu3DS version.  It supports the Wii pro controller.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is definitely one of my favourite Wii U games, but I would probably recommend the original Xenoblade Chronicles as Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Switch is a successor to it and not X. Although I wouldn't doubt them making a sequel to X some time in the future (especially as there was a hint at a sequel at the end of that game) it will be some time until it appears.

If you are looking for XC 2, then play the first XC.If you dont mind the order, either one is fine, since they dont share a universe(each has its own story).

But all in all, while we dont know how XC 2 is connected to the first, I recommend playing the first XC.You can get on the Wii, or in the Wii U eshop.I dont recommend the 3DS version, since the original one is better looking and Xc is a game designed to play on the big screen. But if you dont have a choice, the 3DS version is not bad by any means.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Go with Xenoblade Chronicles for the WII. Get it on the WII U if you can and prepare yourself of 70 hours of awesomeness.

I think if you really want to get into the Xenoblade series, it'd be best to dust off your Wii U for it, since you can get XC for cheaper on VC and of course XCX is on there too. I recommend you get and play XC first, which is more story-driven than XCX and easier to swallow. If you don't want to use the Wii/Nunchuck the Classic Controller is your best bet, and what I used to play it.

If you prefer less emphasis on story and more on gameplay and customising your weapons/moveset/gear etc. Then XCX is for you. A word of warning though is that it's definitely harder to get into, as a lot of things are either not explained too well or not explained at all, though you can experiment for yourself and learn from that. XCX is also a lot more open than XC, and is quite a technical marvel for the Wii U!

If you're just looking forward to XC2 and want to get into the series, then it's a bit harder to say because we don't know much about it. However, if the name is any indication then it'll likely be more akin to XC, which is what i'd recommend to play first.

Just to note for all these titles, they usually take quite a long time to finish, especially if you get into the side stuff. For example, it took me 94 and ~100 hours to play XC and XCX respectively, so prepare to put a lot of time aside for them!

Also feel free to ask any questions and i'll answer them to the best of my ability!

The VC WiiU version also has Gamepad controls, like the other CC games.

Play the original; it's like $20 on Wii U eShop. Xenoblade X is a major step down from the original, so I'd only recommend it if you absolutely love Xenoblade's gameplay (not the story, the gameplay).

Start with Xenogears, that is the definitive Tetsuya Takahashi (Xeno) game, his masterpiece. It has the most fleshed out plot and characters the bunch, and is one of the best videogame experiences available.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Couldn't agree more. I think it is the best game in the Xeno series. I know the combat style has changed over the years but this game has it all. And it's on PSN. So then you can stay on your PS4!
