We've already had this thread a number of times. It IS a hybrid, functioning both as a console (where it is more powerful) and a mobile.

An entire thread centered solely around semantics seems rather silly.

What does that have to do with it being handheld or home console? 5th gen, 9th gen, 12th gen, whatever gen. If someone released an NES type console today it would still be a home console.

What do you mean? The Wii U was a home console, so its in competition with Xbox and Playstation. If they can't get 3rd parties, than it can't sell, and ultimately if falls behind. The Xbox is already 2:1, and PS4 almost 4:1. So no, it wasn't able to compete with Xbox or Playstation. As for your second point, its a NINTH GEN CONSOLE! Mobile HW has advanced significantly since 2011, so games running ont the Wii U SHOULD run on this console. I can't imagine if that wasn't the case.

My point being it won't be treated as a home console. Its a handheld with a dock. You can lable it as a "hybrid", but its a handheld with a dock. Thats like saying a phone is a PC because it can be hooked up to a monitor...

And the NES is from the 1980s, so of course its less powerful! I'm talking about releasing a modern console today.

Yeh its going to be in trouble however so are every Games devoloper as the cost of making games will skyrocket

I was wondering the same thing until some key people strongly insisted it is NOT a handheld, I think they will compare with ps4-Xbox. But they will be wrong, this IS a handheld
