PSone beat n64 tho.

PS1 was 32-Bit.

I can't remember what the Nintendo 64 was.

Yet average PS1 games use more polygons than average N64 games and N64 texture resolutions are lower. Not to mention a PS1's cd-rom could hold 660m and the largest n64 cartridges could only hold 64mb. Gee, I wonder why the Nintendo 64 chose that path.

It was never a law, it was just an assumption based on a tiny sample-size that ignored all the other factors involved. 'Power' is only a negative when it results in an unattractive price-point. I called bullshit on that "logic" for years before the PS4 launched.

I'm not here to discuss quality of Games or storage. N64 was more powerful. It can be proven. Why would you try to argue with an undeniable fact? That's like saying PS2 was more powerful than GameCube because it used tiny discs while PS2 used full sized DVDs.

There is no magic formula for this, there are instances where both sides of the coin have happened. It comes down to a combination of : Price, Power, Luck, Software Support, Originality and Desirability. At least in my opinion it does. Scorpio is in a strange place I think, it's going to be the most powerful but are developers really ready to take full advantage of what it has to offer? Developers still really don't know how to get the most out of PS4 Pro, mostly because the install base of PS4Pro is probably very minor compared to PS4. If Scorpio wants to beat anything, it has to make sure it beats Xbox One first in terms of Software Support or an artificial genocide of all Xbox Ones.

Yeah, I agree with much of this.

I remember reading a piece by a developer a while back. He said as long as the consoles are in the same race it makes no difference to developers and little difference to the consumers outside of diehard fans. The overwhelming majority of games are multiplat anyway. He put it something like this:

"If the PS4 and XboxOne were cars they would be in the same race class. For example if they were considered Formula 1 race cars then the WiiU would be Formula Renault. Current Developers prefer Formula 1 cars. It doesn't matter if one F1 car is superior, pushing the other car to get as close to the superior car is a rewarding job".

What you wrote about PS4 Pro and Scorpio reminded me of what he said, for some reason.

If that doesn't make any sense to you I apologise. It's late and I am off to bed.

It has a chance of winning if it is cheaper.

No matter how you look at it, it is completely irrelevant because the PS4 and XB1 are currently in the market.

Sure the Scorpio can outsell the Pro. There is a very real possibility too. It remains irrelevant because the Scorpio and Pro are premium versions of Microsoft and Sony's current gen consoles. Nothing can be exclusive. Anything that runs on the Scorpio has to be able to run on the XB1. Same with the Pro and PS4. Why is this important? If the Scorpio manages to outsell the Pro, it is still an XB1 console and will simply add to the total just like the Pro for the PS4. So unless the Scorpio magically sells 30 million consoles, it is not outselling the PS4. Want to separate the base consoles and compare them on their own? Go for it. Congratulations Scorpio, you outsold the Pro. Now outsell the PS4. The Scorpio, whether, or not it beats the Pro, does nothing to break the cycle. A cycle broken by the PS4

I totally get what you're saying. Especially the bolded. This is a huge point. If consoles are within the same race and have the same software support and one is cheaper, what's the point of getting the more expensive one? Especially if developers don't know how to get the most out of said system. If you cut it off to supporting only the new console, you leave out the larger install base. Now that I think about it, besides the online fans who want it, the PS4 Pros existance is really boggling and it seems as if it was rushed to market. The same thing is going to happen to scorpio, I think. If there's' no clear reason why I should buy a Scorpio besides slight fps increaes and resolution increases, it's not going to take off.

technically, the most powerful won this time around.

The scorpio is not going to suddenly make the PS4 stop selling. Its too late to the party.
