Not to be rude or anything, but no one cares for Metroid.

Not to be rude or anything, but the lack of a proper Metroid was about all that was talked about at E3 2015.

There is a fanbase that is chomping at the bit for a new game. I know several individuals who never bought the Wii U with the expressed reason that their was never a Metroid Prime 4 in HD on the platform. I am one of the fans who had faith this would happen an bought into the Wii U earlier, before Nintendo brought the hammer down and diverted all resources away from it.

Definitely.

I exaggerated when I said no one cares about Metroid- my point however is that there's more attention for other series compared to it.

In my opinion, I definitely think a Switch Metroid game could easily break 3m+ if they advertise it and execute it well. Really depends on how much demand there is for a Metroid game.

Every person I've tried talking to in real life either:

a) Doesn't know what Metroid is
b) Forgot all about it
c) Asks if it is a new type of droid coming out

I seriously don't see how it's possible when everyone in the internet demands a Metroid game. Where do all these people live? I never see anyone talk about Metroid. I'd love to have a person to talk about Metroid with

Try asking these people about Professor Layton next time, let's see what happens.

Just because people you know don't know about it, doesn't mean no one cares. Metroid is definitely not the most mainstream franchise out there, but it has a pretty large fanbase and draws a lot of interest from gamers in general, regardless of being Nintendo fans or not. Personally, I know plenty of people who love the series and are dying for it to get a proper new entry.

I'm wrong I guess. Really didn't think of it that way.

Metroid is easily more mainstream than Professor Layton...if not already, then it has the potential to become as popular as Donkey Kong.

With Starfox essentially being dead to Nintendo, I think they'll give a series like Metroid another go.

Nintendo make new IPs every gen just like Sony and MS.

...Did you even read the OP?

Nintendo needs to balance new IPs with old ones. I hope Retro Studios is making a new IP though.

Huh. I largely agree. Well written.

Very nice. I hope you are correct about new IP's being inbound.

You stated in op that Nintendo treated Splatoon like they do with Mario and Zelda production wise. I don't that is the case. Didn't they have a b team full of newbs make the game with possibly a little help from the vets? I don't think they spent that much money developing it at first considering it was bare bones and they added more to the game later once it took off.

Am I the only one that thought Arms looked like shit? Granted I only watched half of the trailer before I had to turn it off. The little girl and older guy punching back and forth was just too much for me.

The younger developers where given leeway into making the game. I doubt you know what is their A and B team is and are under the assumption that the games they make gauge the team. They announced more content before it launched; not when it got popular. they advertised like no tommorow.

If you couldn't be bothered to look at the full content presented, don't expect your opinion to have any relevancy.

Nintendo sure has done well with trying to get new IP out, but personally I feel it is lacking something.

Call me crazy or whatever but I really wish they fund a new adult only game and even make their own range of sports games (that don't have mario skin on them) or somehow get 2K onboard 100%.

Withut these i just feel that every gen for Nintendo will get smaller and smaller, as their other IPs are so catered to a Nintendo only game. Some of us Nintendo gamers like other games too. At my age I honestly CBF owning multiple consoles anymore as don't have much spare time. I just want to be able to play on one system as much as I can. Multi consoles were cool when you had time but its a hassle having 2-3 setup making sure all controllers are charged, making sure there is HDMI for each etc.

They funded Bayonetta 2 which is a very "adult only game" though it isn't exactly a new nor an original IP.
