Nintendo Switch Game Prices Cut in UK; Zelda, Mario Kart Now Cheaper

UK now more in line with US pricing.

Nintendo has reduced the prices of many of its first party Switch games in the UK.

Games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, Arms, and 1-2-Switch are now cheaper than before at many retailers. They originally had RRPs between £49.99 and £59.99, while they now range from £39.99 and £49.99. 1-2-Switch is down to £34.99 at some retailers, and no standard edition first party game has an RRP above £49.99.

Interestingly, the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild is priced £10 lower than its Nintendo Switch counterpart at many retailers. You can see all the differences between the two editions here.

UK pricing is now more in line with what's seen in the US, where most Switch games cost $59.99.

Switch itself costs £279.99 in the UK, but Nintendo have faced criticism for not packing in a game with the console. In response, Nintendo cited their desire to hit a $300 price point in the US as the reason for the lack of a bundled game.

"From a US price point, we wanted to be at $299," said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. "Certainly, lower is always better, but at a $349 or $399 price point, we just didn't feel that was the right place to be. So we start there. And then it's all about, what's going to be included? Obviously the inclusion of the two Joy-Con, critically important; all the right cables, the dock, critically important. We also have to do this from a financial perspective as well. Once we got to that bundle, it really needed to be at $299 without a piece of software."

That's cool.

Oh my! They are listening!
Please make it happen here in down under!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Not surprised, its the same thing that happens to Wii U games. The price of them lowers a lot before release, well physical ones anyway. Thats why I dont buy digital games cause there better deals and prices from retailers.

good, outrageous pricing originally

Nintendo haven't reduced the prices on anything as I posted in the Bomberman price article yesterday pricing is different here in the UK, The RRP for Zelda is still £59.99 it's how the retailers work in the UK no one sells at RRP and they are usually just inserted until they receive more info.

Yea retailers might sell games a bit higher at launch than the price will settle to in a few months to take advantage of the launch hype but it has nothing to do with Nintendo lowering the RRP.

What you chatting about, UK prices are still the same.

Amazon Germany still has the game for 70€. I guess it will be reduced by 10-20€
