This. Link is an androgynous guy anyway, and doesn't really say anything or act on his own, so he's meant to be a stand-in for the player. Making him female doesn't really do anything for a character like that, and it's really just a waste of time.

As he grows more polygon he becomes less androgynous, thus it would make sense to give people the choice between a female and male Link, as he could have been either (in appearance) in older titles.

I think zelda is going to be playable on breath of the wild, The treehouse segment gave me a big hint, they spoke about how zelda has the same outfit and the same sheikah slate and how interesting will be to find out why she is wearing that. Legend of zelda always has a twist, I think that's the twist.

He must be laughing thinking about the people who would naively believe around the web that they are "considering" a female Link.

Link will always be a male. In fact, wouldn't surprise me if in the future titles they add more personality to Link.
