While most journalists are negative about it, Japanese  too Mock it and Want to stick to 3DS.

You never responded to my question in the NIS thread, but where is this coming from?

If you're going to be making statements like this, you're going to need evidence. Otherwise this provides nothing to discuss.

Didnt see.

Coming from someone who lives in japan, told me thé atmosphère around Switch There is really Bad showing me some posts, liké 80% of négativity , that most gamers There Mock it on Big forums and have no intention to buy it, far from thé 3DS at his beginning.

Hes very much à Nintendo gamer and à serious Guy so i believe his words when hé says this so i doubt it will do well in japan éven as à home console

Thanks for clarifying.

Still, from what I undestand, this is limited to a sampling of forum users, and so this type of statement still isn't useful for debate. Please keep your arguments limited to more solid evidence, or make it clear when you make your statements where your info is coming from. If or when the Switch stumbles at launch, that will be a much more accurate representation of how the Japanese audience feels about the system.

I also have friends in Japan, and the two of them told me there's a lot of enthusiasm around the Switch there. Many say things like "finally a Nintendo portable console with good graphical abilities". It's like 80% of the entire japanese gaming population is very positive about it. But my friends have yet to talk to the remaining 20%, so they don't yet have a definite assessment.

Cool story, bro.

It's basically your word against Aerys'.

Of course! Is it not the way it works around here?

Yea it's like using n4g as evidence of the overall perception of the Switch...

Thank for this info as well.

But this also confirms to me the reason I hate "My cousin Vinny told me xxxx" type comments. Anecdotal evidence is interesting...but using it to judge an entire gaming population is obviously flawed. This especially seems to be a problem with Japan, since it's treated as some unanimous foreign entity that either loves or hates any given product, rather than another country that likely has its own varied taste. I've been in manga/anime forums before where Japan's entire opinion on something will be judged based on a 500-person poll in a small magazine, and it's so annoying when people miss the context.

Still, I probably give the benefit of the doubt more often than I should.

And it's not like the negative ones are part of the annoying vocal minority.

I never trust anyone with this kind of anecdotal "evidence", especially when they have a known history of being negative about the brand in the first place.

Even if your story was entirely made up, I would still believe you over Aerys. That's how credibility works.

That's really nice of you to say. =D

This is also true, in any medium. People in general are more likely to complain about things they hate then praise things they enjoy. For example, if I go to one restaurant, order and enjoy a nice soup, and then go another restaurant, order a soup, and find a man's finger in it, I'm much more likely to write a negative review of the second than a positive review of the first. It's simply human nature.

Not to excuse some of the obvious faults of the Switch, but just trying to add some extra context for using forum opinion to gauge the overall feeling on something.

I suppose I'm getting a bit off-topic though. :P
