Forums - Nintendo - "Nintendo switch is too expensive"

I expected it to be 199$-249$ like the rumors where saying... and that was bundled with a game.

at 299$ its more expensive than a PS4 slim, dispite being 1/4th the power, comes with no blu ray drive, no hard disk, doesnt have a ethernet port, doesnt come with a "real" controller (youd need to get a extra pro controller).

I just feel like the "value" propersition isnt as strong with it.

Its not so much that 299$ is a insane price, its just... the value of it.
For what it is, it should be cheaper.

If it was $200 with a game bundled in you would now be complaining how weak the graphics were.

The PS4 Slim doesn't come with a controller that can be split into two simpler controllers, allowing couch multiplayer out of the box. It doesn't come with a screen. It isn't both portable and a home console. Its included controller doesn't have HD rumble. It doesn't have a SD card port...

Its not just that.

Switch - $299
Pro Controller - $70
Skyrim - $60

Just to play Skyrim, a half decade old game, you gotta shell out $430. You can say the pro controller isn't required, but looking at the joycons, they are not built for comfort or long play.

I'm gonna give you great advice. If you just wanna play Skyrim, don't buy a Switch. That's a game you consider because you have a Switch. If you're gonna play it on a TV, you can use the controller grip.

If its still too expensive, just wait for price cuts. Most people don't buy a console at launch price.

That is already happening. Just look at the Dragon quest Heroes 2 comparisons.

What do bad ports have to do with this? I guess the PS4 Pro is worse than the normal PS4 considering some games run worse on it (or did prior to patches). Mario Kart 8, which looks better than Dragon Quest Heroes on the PS4 anyway, got a boost to 1080p. Says enough for me.

You ever try playing PS4 Slim on the go? You're comparing two very different machines.

Bad port this, who cares about that etc etc. Yeah every conversation with you goes the same way. And then randomly bring up a wii U remaster. Again.

Are you just copying and pasting at this?

Less "says enough" and more "says the exact same thing every time".

Every conversation with you is basically finding a way to discount what anyones says - then CONSTANTLY bring up Mario kart. Seriously go back and count how many times you've said Mario kart. I'm sure it is over 100.

If you don't have an argument don't respond. Dragon Quest Heroes looks bad, even on the PS4. Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja are notorious for being poor developers and having killed one of gaming's most beloved franchises. Facts are facts. Super Mario Odyssey also looks better and more ambitious than Super Mario 3D World, with huge open levels. This is at least twice as powerful as a Wii U. So no excuse for bad ports like Dragon Quest Heroes.

This game runs at 1080p/60fps, even during splitscreen multiplayer. So tell me, what's Dragon Quest Heroes' excuse? Weak console or incompetent developers? I know the answer.

What a surprise. Nintendobutt thinks people's valid criticism against Nintendo is wrong.

no, just the price of the console in the united states.

Launch games are... just zelda

accessories are expensive as fuck

splatoon 2 looks like splatoon 1.5

mario kart switch should have more tracks

I agree

I could've sworn that the value of a product is subjective. But since you proved without a doubt that people's opinion is wrong and that your view of value is the only correct one I guess there is nothing we can do.

Please explain to us what you know about the different requirements for rendering a racing game compared to an action game with tens of characters on screen with their own [albait simple] AI and move sets, an explorable map, many sub-systems, etc.
