Actually that's a cause of concern for me. I haven't seen any footage of 4 players multiplayer games on it yet.
Considering the Switch comes with 2 joy-cons and the fact the you can connect to other consoles via wi-fi, I fear they will focus solely on 2-player mutliplayer and online, while 3 to 4 couch multiplayer will be considered an afterthought.

The WiiU launched with 6 free controllers for me as I could use all my Wii controllers for it and have :) Day 1 5 player co-op in NSMBU without any extra costs. Then again with Super Mario 3D world and Rayman legends.
Super Mario Odyssey is my most anticipated game, however I'm assuming you actually need joycons to play it? So that would be an extra $80 this time, next to the game being more expensive already. How will Super mario Oddyssey do local co-op btw? 4 player splitscreen like MK8? Or do you have to stay together?

I am hoping Odssey is more like 64 or gamecube. Not galaxy 1 or 2. I really hated the wii controls for those games. I will immediately abandon the game if I have to go motion control for that game. Aso do we know what kind of local co-op? Galaxy 1 and 2 all you did was play a little helper guy. You didn't really actually participate. |
Galaxy 1 and 2 co-op was a joke. Even the asynchronous co-op on the WiiU gamepad was very unpopular in our house. Nobody wanted to play on the gamepad lol. It basically sat there on the armrest for the occasional need to activate something while the 4 of us played with wii-motes.
I can't find anything about Odyssey's co-op options. I really hope it's not like Galaxy, or limited to online, ie multiple linked switch consoles to play co-op :/ Please no.

I think Super Mario Odyssey is a single-player game. Maybe there's two-person co-op, but I'd be shocked if there was four-player co-op.
Anyway, the system comes with two controllers. If you want two more, you have to pay $80, yes. Surely you paid $40 a pop for all those Wii remotes?

I believe the system supports 8 player local multiplayer.

I was sold on ARMS after a couple of minutes of gameplay footage. Now I'm just waiting to see if the amount of content the game provides can justify a 50-60 dollar pricetag.
The games
PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850
:So far the very positive feedback on how high quality the system feels overall.
:The screen being amazing for 720p and 6.2" in size
:The amount of technology that went into the Joy-cons. (I think many people are underestimating these features as more of the same, but everyone that has tried them out state that HD Rumble as they call it could change how we interact with games.
Mario Odyssey, it's the Mario 64 followup I've always wanted! Minus the real life city of course.
